They were going to win one of these years. Good team with a generational player. It was going to happen, and Ovechkin deserves to win a Cup, so I'd prefer this win to Vegas with no elite players winning it.

Ovechkin deserves a cup sure but who the hell saw this coming after they collapsed for years. After they traded for shatty and didn't get to ecf again? I didn't see anyone picking them before the season started. Most saw them declining not getting closer to a cup

There was nothing keeping teams from making trade, most teams just hold off on doing anything out of respect for the playoffs (well, major moves at least.)

I doubt anything significant happens until the draft.
