Around the NHL — Episode XLXVII

Domi fine is a symptom of such shite discipline.

I wonder who on TML and Florida are going to slime it up next.

Also saw what Florida's owner posted on social media about Canada being the 51st state. What a grade A piece of shit.

I hope a team like Boston signs Smith as head coach. He'll overplay McAvoy and Lindholm the way he overplays any defenders on his team (LA's ice time distribution for D was a joke) and Boston will be slim pickings for us.

Edmonton lucked into McDavid and Leon. Without those two, that franchise would be a consistent bottom feeder with terrible management
I'd cheer for them more if they didn't tank so much and ruin so many #1 and top 5 picks, that the league had to change the draft rules.

I dont see how they "ruined" any of those players though.

Nuge has developed well but is a star player, not a superstar. Yakupov sucked all on his own, the 2nd overall went nowhere too. Hall was a support star winger and got them a good top 4 D until his dad died and wanted out of town for a fresh start. Eberle wasnt a #1, but he is another 2nd line type talent that developed fine but isnt moving the needle enough for any team.

I saw it as much bad fortune for the Oilers that these were the players available with 3 #1's as anything. They did do a shit job otherwise though, cant dispute that.

It is amazing how Carolina seems to get into the eastern conference final every 5 or 6 years like clockwork.

EDIT: Not like clockwork, but they have appeared in the ECF in 2002, 2006 (won cup), 2009, 2019, 2023 and probably this year of 2025. So every 4 or 5 years on average over the last 23 years.

What other team is going to get these 1st round picks over 14 years? We rebuilt and were terrible and didn't even get one 1st overall. Then they lost Broberg and Holloway due to cap mismanagement.

2007 Gagner 6
2008 Eberle 22
2009 Paajarvi 10
2010 Taylor Hall 1
2011 Nugent-Hopkins 1
2012 Yakupov 1
2013 Nurse 7
2014 Draisaitl 3
2015 McDavid 1
2016 Puljujarvi 4
2017 Yamamoto 22
2018 Bouchard 10
2019 Broberg 8
2020 Holloway 14

Has any team ever had an easier path to the Conference Finals than Carolina?

A bad and beat up New Jersey team in Round 1 and the paper tiger Caps in Round 2.

Probably could have made the Conf finals if we let MTL pass us, but then we may have missed altogether.

Skinner is not a good goalie. Half the saves he makes he turtles up and flops onto his side or back just hoping the puck is somewhere underneath him. He then proceeds to search for the puck with his hands like he is digging in a sandbox, the play style is hilarious.

He is like one of those goats that gets paralyzed momentarily and faints.
