Around the NHL — Episode XLXVII

Definitely hurts for the Avs but would hurt much more if they didn’t have a cup. I just want to see one cup in my lifetime.
That was Shakespearean in nature. They didn't negotiate properly and exiled him to the Hurricanes who they thought they would never meet in the playoffs. Then he is flipped to their arch rival and scores 4 points in game 6 and another 4 points in the third period of game 7, yeesh.

But I am with you we need a Rantanen on the Sens to win the cup and we could probably use a MacKinnon as well.

Doesn't every team?

The depth of these contenders is crazy. No Heiskanen (#1 all situations D) No Robertson (35 g 80pts) and they beat an all in Colorado team

Good news for Dallas both those guys are expected back at some point in the 2nd round.

Sens were disappointed in their loss to Toronto naturally but up 2-0 going into the 3rd and losing game 7 would be crushing.

Rantanen looked lost after being traded from Colorado and struggled to produce... He flipped a switch and put up 11 points in the final 3 games of the series.
1st player in history to score 4 pts in one period in 2 consecutive games regular season or playoffs.

March 7 from Mike Kelly

Yiiiiikes and Hellebuyck gives up another weak goal on the Blues' 4th shot. What a sieve.

At this point I'd seriously consider taking him out of the game.

I don’t think I can remember a player that had this wide of a gap between regular season and playoff performance as Hellebuyck. It’s insane.

It's becoming a curse for Winnipeg where they have the best goalie in the regular season which easily gets them into the playoffs only for that same guy to kill any chance of ever winning a cup. If they lose tonight they have to consider finding someone else.

They’ll probably give him another year but yeah I don’t even know how you manage that.

I was just thinking how he’d be perfect for a team like Buffalo that is dying to make the playoffs. But he also has a NMC so they might have a hard time trading him because he’ll want to go to a contender and it’d be hard for any playoff team not to be scared off by this.

Jets probably just have to develop a young goalie to form a tandem with him so they have another option lol.

Nik Ehlers has got to be high up on that list as well. If he doesn't score in the 3rd period tonight he'll have 4 goals in 39 playoff games. His total production drops by more than 50% in the post-season.

...and yet he's many people's favourite target to add to the Sens. Why? What good is a player who can't perform when the games matter the most?
