Around the NHL — Episode XLXVII

It's tricky. Was this an unusually lucky season for Montreal (with Boston & Rangers imploding opening up 2 unexpected playoff spots), or is this the real deal for them?

Time will tell.
They got a bit lucky but I don’t think it matters, their core is actually good.

I think generally once you have your stars it’s time to push forward. I actually don’t think Dorion had the wrong idea in general, just horrendous execution. Like are we complaining about the moves if he landed us a top line winger and top 4 RD that became key pieces? Probably not.

And Vasi turned into a sieve.

TBL losing wasn't just Vasy, their forwards didn't score enough, and their D was meh. Still, pretty shite for them to lose in 5.

Colorado not getting any stops from Blackwood. Playing circles around Dallas, but everything is going in their net.

LA gave the series away on that bad clear last game.

Stars possibly gave it away by the craziest own goal. Why were you shrugging the puck towards your own net?

Wonder which Sens will end up at world championships now that the playoffs are done. Be nice to see players like Greig, Pinto, Zetterlund, Cozens etc getting an opportunity.

Was it him or boy genius Kyle Dubas?

Well, obviously every coach has an expiry date, but I think they kept him for far too long.

Pittsburgh is a veteran team and I don't think he got the best out of them, and now he's going to another veteran team in New York.

I'm curious to see what happens. I don't know if you get the same kind of new coach bump as you do when you switch during the season.
