Around the NHL — Episode XLXVII

Doughty, Kopitar and Kuemper all have cups where they played a leading role in the wins. I would say they have a little bit of accomplishment.
Avs won in spite of Kuemper, and he isn't even cocky. I like Kuemper. I get Doughty and Kopitar being a bit cocky, but most of the Kings roster shouldn't be, especially not that POS in Danault.

Go Oilers! I want to see McDavid surpass everyone in playoffs points (ok maybe not Gretzky) but he has a decent chance to end up 2nd of all time

Expected Tampa to do better but it is not over yet! And wow Dallas, despite their injuries. are 1 win away from the 2nd round. If they win and they get their guys back on the way, they'll be the main favorite for the Cup.

Edmundson, Jeannot, Doughty, Anderson, Gavrikov, Clarke to an extent, Byfield, and Kuzmenko. Even the coach doesn't seem likeable. Edit: Forgot to mention Danault hated that pos since he was a Hab.

I really like Danault because he chose to sign elsewhere. Habs are still lacking a 2nd line center and Danault is a great 2-way C getting Selke votes every year.

Looks like the Battle of Ontario series might be the only one left in the Eastern Conference to be resolved after tonight.

Whoever gets Florida next round is in big trouble. They are starting to look like the Florida from last year. Relentless pressure. Although Bobrovsky seems a bit leaky this year in the playoffs.

Yeah I'm kind of surprised people didn't actually look at the lineup they had been running in the final month of the season and instead decided to just write them off as declining.

Goodbye Habs

4 goals for old man Ovechkin in the series, whatever the Russian doctored have him on its working

Habs had a respectable first round...definitely not something I thought would happen at the start of the year. Fast rebuild for them, but they're also at a really tricky point...continue building or trade away prospects & picks to try and speedrun (and potentially screw up everything)?

lol I love Sportsnet saying "Montreal gave Washington all they could handle"

Umm, Caps won in 5 games, only one game went to OT and two of the wins were by 3 goals (some empty netters in there but same with Montreal's win)

Must be a term thrown around very loosely

Caps have been winning games like this all year long.

They look like close contests but really aren't.

Trading away picks and prospects won’t screw anything up, unless they do something stupid and trade an unprotected first next year.

But they’re the exact type of team that should be selling futures to round out their roster. You only have so much room for prospects.

It's tricky. Was this an unusually lucky season for Montreal (with Boston & Rangers imploding opening up 2 unexpected playoff spots), or is this the real deal for them?

Time will tell.

Tampa out in the first round for the third straight season.

It's the jerseys. The hockey gods mistake them for the Leafs and boot them in the first round.

In all seriousness, I like seeing the Leafs lose in the first round as much as anybody else, but I don't take the "Leafs always lose in the first round" thing that seriously because the nature of the current format is that it's very hard to win in the first round if you're in the WC2 or WC3 spot in a strong division. So the same way that I'm willing to give the Leafs a slight pass for losing most years, I don't see Tampa losing to Florida twice and Toronto as being the same as a team back in the day constantly losing to 7th or 8th seed teams under the old format.
