Around the NHL — Episode XLXVII

I wonder how this guy compares to Zetterlund besides a smaller head

Tomasek, 6-foot-1 and 187 pounds, played two junior OHL years in Belleville, then back in Czechia, Russia, Finland and for the last two seasons for Farjestads. He had 57 points with 24 goals in 47 games this past season
.Over two Farjestads seasons Tomasek, born in Prague, had 102 points over 99 games. One other note: Tomasek was on the 2016 Czech world junior team with Boston’s David Pastrnak.
Sens should be interested in this type of cheap add.

Going to be interesting to see what the Oil do in the off season. Drai has a $5 million raise, Bouchard needs a new contract, and they only have $8.5 million coming off with JSkinner, Connor Brown, Perry, Klingberg, Kapanen and Neal's dead cap coming off. Even with the salary cap increase, there'll be some tough decisions especially with the amount of NMCs on their current players.

Needs the Habs to pass us to ensure Toronto doesn't get out of the first round. We don't stand a chance against them with how this teams performs as soon as real pressure is applied.

Then Florida/Tampa sweeps the Habs and everything is great.

Montreal is 4-0 and 14-5 in goals vs Florida this season… I didn’t check versus Tampa, but at least it would be more hopeful. I know playoff is another season, but it is concerning.

I’d much rather face Toronto than Tampa or even Florida. I don’t think we stand a chance vs these teams. Versus the Leafs, I like our chances much more

So ideally : we face Toronto, Montreal doesn’t make the playoffs and if they do they face Tampa (not even sure if that scenario is possible)

If you could take one of these players ... who'd it be?

I'm taking Celebrini

Celebrini AINEC even though there is several very interesting young players

HOW DO YOU MATCH THEM UP?

Pinto against Mathews ?
Greig against Tavares ?
Stutzle on McMann ?

When in Ottawa. And hope to do well with the Mathews-Stutzle, Tavares-pinto/Greig and McMann-Pinto/Greig, match-up when in Toronto.

OV gets another goal tonight getting one step closer to Gretzky. Coupled that with the Bruins in the basement of the standings. Don Cherry must not be living his best life right now.

Hard to decide between Celebrini and Hutson. It would be Hutson for sure if he was right handed. If we had him, we'd have our old too many top lefty defenseman problem again. We'd have to either trade Chabot, or move Sanderson to the right side.

Habs are legit. It would take a monumental collapse for them to miss the playoffs. Getting 2010 vibes from that team where they knocked out the Caps in the first round.

Cinderella team, I think they win against Caps. They are good against the two Florida team and this is like playing all game at home

Just the Sens can stop them in the east. But they gonna lost in finale against a western team

Blues are a wagon.

12 wins in a row.

That’s a well managed team, no stars, Thomas notwithstanding, but always do well with trade, signings and draft

Picking in the back half of the 1st from 2020-2022 and have:

Neighbours - 26th
Bolduc - 17th
Snuggred - 23rd

3 guys who will play a large role right now drafted by a team that was already a top team in the league at the time in the back half of the 1st.

They have a great future... Dalibor Dvorsky (19) is also on his way and should become one of their best players

Also : Snuggerud (20), Bolduc (21), Neighbours (22), Broberg and Holloway (23), Hofer and Kessel (24), Thomas and Tucker (25), Kyrou (26)

Some good vets that are not too old with Buchnevich (29) Binnington and Parayko (31), Fowler and Schenn (33)

And there's more prospects like Adam Jiricek, Theo Lindstein, Otto Stenberg, Lukas Fischer, Juraj Pekarčík, etc and a good drafting track record...

Caps and Blues are the 2 teams I have noticed on how you can build a good team and have a good future without being bad for years and years.

Not to mention how they bent over the Oilers in the offseason. Wish Staios had done it instead. Maybe he would have had he had the cap room.

I wonder what's worse management; trade away first round picks trying to make the playoffs and failing (Ottawa), or losing your first round draft picks that were just starting to come in to their own because you decided to sign crappy players in their 30's (Oilers).

Edmonton was one game away from winning it last year so I'm going with them as worse. Having to watch Holloway blossom and Broberg become a legit top 4 D while watching $10M of Arvidsson, Skinner, and Henrique do jack shit must be infuriating. Kinda like us with Zibanejad...

I don’t see them making it out of the first round but they’re running ahead of schedule in their rebuild - just making it is playing with house money basically.

I don’t see it. For everyone saying how well the Habs are playing, they’re still 5-3-2 in their last 10. Not a bad record but far from unstoppable. They’re just playing the best out of the group competing for the last WC spot.

Suzuki and Hutson have been unreal. Adding Carrier and getting Guhle back is huge for their D
