Around the NHL — Episode XLXVII

Last time I checked secondary assist count the same. Look at this setup:

Read something awhile ago that suggested high secondary assist totals typically were followed by regression the next year so it’ll be interesting to see if that applies here.

For the record I’ve been impressed by Hutson watching him so not really arguing against him so much as I’m curious to see how he progresses.

Been a secondary assist machine this season. 31 on the year, which is the second most in the league behind Bouchard, who's an even bigger fraud.

Both guys have racked up a lot of assists for handing off the puck. Bouchard in particular only has 12 primary assists and a whopping 33 secondary assists. Should be giving half of the massive contract he's about to get this summer to McDavid and Draisaitl, who are the players actually driving the offense.

Very impressive rookie year for Hutson, and he's a massive steal in the late 2nd for the Habs, but he hasn't been as good as the numbers suggest.
I mean Stu routinely has more secondary assists than primary assists, but he's still the best playmaker and play driver on the team. This year, Batherson leads us in primary assists but I'd never put him above Stu in terms of impact.

Hutson is the primary reason the Habs are fighting for a WC spot. The secondary assists being less important than primary is an incomplete way at looking at them. Not all assists are the same.

Secondary assists are predominantly an indicator that wingers aren't driving play, but the same doesn't apply for centres and defencemen.

Never looked at that .. Not all secondary assists are created equal. Some are more integral to the scoring play than others.

Needs the Habs to pass us to ensure Toronto doesn't get out of the first round. We don't stand a chance against them with how this teams performs as soon as real pressure is applied.

Then Florida/Tampa sweeps the Habs and everything is great.

I don’t want to play Toronto but I also don’t want to lose on the road to the playoffs.

Thursday and Saturday is going to be conflicting consodering who we play.

I almost forgot that this is the Sens forum with all the Habs circle jerking going on.
I can't stand the idea of losing to the Leafs in the playoffs. I almost would prefer to miss the playoffs, hopefully we get to play Washington.

Hard to feel positive about our team right now. We are not very good, we can't score: we play pond hockey.

Playing pond hockey means you just focus on offence and no defence so that would probably be a step up.
