Around the NHL — Episode XLXVII

To know what we paid for Jensen, we would have to know what kind of offers were on the table for Chychrun at the draft.

I think that we probably left value on the table and overpaid because we badly needed a stabilizing RHD, and our other options were off the table. I think that we probably should have gotten more than a 3rd with Jensen, but it's possible that the market for Chychrun was bad.
I wouldn't be surprised if teams offered a better package that involved draft picks or prospects, but that would mean relying on FA to get an RD that's the right fit and maybe management though they couldn't risk going into the season with Hamonic and JBD slotted higher than the 3rd.

I'm watching the TNT feed for Colorado v Chicago.

Colorado just scored and a reporter is doing one of those side line interviews with the coach.

Reporter: well coach, pretty filthy back hand (top) shelf snipe... what do you like about him other than the filthy goal?
coach: <says complimentary stuff about the player>
reporter: ya, that was filthy!

ok, sure, I'm an old guy and I just can't deal with that kind of over familiar slang usage for the setting. Maybe if the interviewer is a former player.

And before I get flamed, yes, I would like the intermissions to be solely older men wearing 3 piece suits, and sitting in overstuffed leather wingback chairs while the 'tut tut' someone for getting a too many men penalty.
