Feel free to nutshell for the rest of us at the back of the class? Thiught Zib and CK were the issues? Along with Trouba of course?

Players very upset at how Trouba trade was handled, apparently. Team is playing poorly, guys like Kreider and Zibanejad are half-assing, cherry picking, shit effort on the ice. Peter Laviolette responds by repeatedly scratching Kaapo Kakko. Kakko spoke out about it, said he was frustrated, didn't think it was fair (and IMO, he was completely correct)... then gets traded for a bag of pucks a couple of days later.

Seems like there's just a complete lack of leadership, awful locker room up there. The alternate captains group includes Kreider and Zibanejad, who are two huge parts of the problem for their lazy, chickenshit play. Total implosion and I don't see how this survives without being blown up in a big way.

They might miss the playoffs entirely.

So what has this got to do with Trocheck exactly? What proof is there that Trocheck is a locker room cancer? There are a lot of players on a NHL team.

I can't recall him being a cancer here or in Carolina. And none of what you typed confirms he is.

I think the Ranger's issues started ALL the way back to the way they handled Goodrow.

Then immediately after Goodrow, they started trying to get rid of Trouba which eventually happened.

Trocheck was one of the ones to stand in front of a camera and talk strongly about it.

Shesterkin immediately gets an extension after Trouba gets removed.

Yeah....I'd be f***ed up too if I were in there lol.

I think we've got enough evidence to conclude that there's a reason Dale chose to shoot the hostage he did.

If I recall correctly, Vinny wasn't scoring like he used to for the 2nd season in the row and Dale wanted to make a move to shake the remaining core. And I believe he lead the team in turnovers.

I think at the time the team was getting complacent again with something like 9 losses in 13 games. Obviously you don't move Barkov, Huberdeau and Ekblad seemed a little untouchable too. The next guy was Trocheck.

The previous year he shipped off Bjugstad and McCann, Bjugstad of course being a former protected player from the expansion draft and the 2nd player taken in Tallon's first draft. But was looking like a shell of his former self due to the injuries.

IMO Tallon was growing frustrated with the players he picked and the lack of proper growth. This is just my speculation. Vinny was well liked in the locker room. Think this was just a message of play better or you're out of Florida.

No we really don't. You have not provided any apart from random speculation and just assuming because he was jettisoned from the team that he was a problem in the locker room. And using it to justify that we 'won' the trade.
Well, it’s as reasonable a theory as any. Vinny never came across like a team unifier either. Him and Hubie and Horton weren’t exactly of a mindset to give off vibes of loyalty and self sacrifice for the team. Barkov did and does, and Tkachuk is a motivational team uniting us-or-them personality. Tro never seemed to have any of those intangibles, and then seemed bitter after getting traded (even at fans, turning to stare at them after scoring against Panthers in FL). I admit I don’t really know but without inside sources all I can do is speculate (or say nothing).

Nashville going for two wins in a row vs Pittsburgh tonight.
Preds had a 3 game win streak earlier in season.
They haven't had two separate win streaks all year..

Tampa still has a run in them, Vasi isn't playing elite anymore but they have enough on forward and defense to win 2 or 3 rounds.

I think the Devils are a better version of Carolina's peak from a couple years ago.
Whether Keefe is capable of powering it deep enough is another question.
As I say this, I know they beat us twice but getting clapped by Columbus right now. Young team getting playoff experience with big potential to have a 6-7 year window.

The Leafs do look good to great, but its a mirage come playoff time, until proven otherwise. Their goaltending will be key, they don't have a true #1 and so many unproven playoff guys outside a miracle Murray run.

We have nights where we look like back to back Champs but that team defense and lack of timely goaltending early in games is testing the 5th and 6th gears this team has.

Completely erased the 6 in 7 loss stretch, now 8-2-1 with a lot of home games and 5 days of rest coming up. Others will get this flu but will be keeping an eye on all our defensive stats the next 10 games.

I have a little soft spot for Tro because I started watching him as soon as we drafted him. Watched him all through Juniors and remember waking up hella early to watch all the Team USA games when he and Rocco won gold. And still remember him choking up in his interview when we just got bounced by the Islanders in the playoffs.

Trading your captain away mid-season says it all about the current situation in the dressing room

I've heard enough about him off the ice both here and from people I know IRL that I'm pretty confident in my assessment, thanks.

If Mikko Rantanen comes available for 2025 UFA marker should Panthers target on him?
And if they should how much it would cost? Rantanen is asking 14 million USD.

So if you was in Zito's shoes who of these three guys you would sign?
Mikko Rantanen
Sam Bennett
Aaron Ekblad.

He’ll get Benny and Ek for the price of Rantanen (or Drai)… so take Benny and Ek.

Sam Bennett easily.
Ekblad #2 if it's under $6 mil like Forsling.
Rantanen is a luxury too the degree we easily can't afford.

Tkachuk, Reinhart and Verhaeghe all locked up long term and chew up 3/4 top 6 winger spots and Samoskevich may be ready for top 6 in under 2 years time.

If ya move one of Bob or Knight and Rodrigues, you have enough space to keep Bennett and both Ekblad or sign/trade for a top 4 RD.

If he was available in 2026 I’d be open to that possibility since we’d have Bob and Knight’s contracts off the books, but it’s not really something I’d prioritize. I think our current forward group is one of the best in the league as it is. We need more imminent help on the back end.
