Igor isn’t that much better than Bob. Rags may be cellar dwellers for a while now.

If there is one goalie I would like to have on that contract, it's Igor. He was the only reason last ECF was actually a competitive series and not a sweep.

The problem is not his contract, it's just NYR are not built that good. They are very mediocre 5v5, their core is aging, their best player is 33 yo offensive winger who is a bit more of a perimeter player than you would want in the playoffs, one of their top-2 centers is 31 yo who is on the decline for a couple of seasons and is a very poor playdriver now, their other top-2 center is also 31 yo and having worse season than last year.

Montembeault (another original Panther like Markstrom) is selected for Team Canada, and shares lead in most shutouts this season so far (3). Not bad for playing behind the Habs blue line.

Goes to show that people should let Knight develop. He’s got the ability and work ethic. He’ll be a #1 here or elsewhere but he’ll get there too.

I could be very wrong, but I don't like the Shesterkin contract for NYR. Shesterkin had a couple of insane seasons, and has regressed badly this season.

That said, the Ducks management should be pilloried for allowing the Rangers to escape from that awful Trouba contract. NY didn't even retain. Unreal.
