Around the League

Gagner is now the director of player development, he's gonna teach young kids to carve out a long NHL career without actually doing anything on the ice. The Sens are aiming to ice 18 Velenos every game.

seems like a weird thing to make fun of when the WIngs have Dan Cleary as an assistant director of player development themselves

For as bad as those wings teams were, I never got the impression Blashill lost the room. Last fall I'm not sure Lalonde could even find the room to walk into.

Agreed. I was definitely ready for Blash to go but I feel like on a rare occasion he actually had some fire to him, which I never got from Lalonde.

And in terms of Chicago hiring Blashill seems like a stand up dude. The kind who if one of his video coaches sexually assaulted one of his players, he'd probably do something about it. So that's an improvement for the Blackhawks.

Would easily be Lalonde, Blashill at least got us a Calder Cup.

It's kind of pick your poison. Lalonde is still fresh. and it felt like he completely lost the room in a way I've not seen in all my years of watching the Wings.

Blashill just seemed stumped as to how to stop the bleeding when the team was in its tailspins. Especially defensively.

Lalonde had a hell of a lot more to work with than Blashill ever did.
Blash probably would have taken the team to the playoffs last season. He would've been quicker to promote Kasper and Ed, which alone might have gotten the team that one point....

And we'd still have Walman.

Fester can eat shit.

Apparently the new CBA will address the LTIR loophole. Thank god, that's one of about 7266949227 problems I have with this league's stupid f***ing hard cap.

Maybe they'll address the remaining 7266949226 next time, and the league has a chance to have a decent structure again.

Just in time for when the Wings can't take advantage of it.

You think Blash had the room when the team played like nobody gave a shit and they were getting blown out 7-1?

He was also a bad coach and his schemes did this team no favors while here. Never once did they look like they were overachieving. I don’t care how improved the roster was for Lalonde. Blashill wasn’t doing anything with it.

Yeah, Blashill had long lost the room, and I never got the impression they were all that thrilled with him to begin with.

I'm under the assumption that Fester had something to do with the Walman trade, and if that's the case, the team would have been better off with Blash for 2 1/2 more years because they didn't make the playoffs anyways.

Also, they play like shit the second half of the season regardless of the coach. Larkin wears himself out and there's not enough depth for even minor injuries. The room seems to get lost on its own. People here talk about building for the playoffs, and this team isn't even built to last the regular season. Mazur definitely won't be of any help, he barely lasts a handful of games before getting injured every season.
