Around the League: You Like Mammoth?

Somehow that would annoy me less.

Because then it's at least something historic, and you can give the Oilers credit for an insane comeback.

This comeback is also pretty impressive but it leaves this bad taste in your mouth because it feels like Hiller handed them all the momentum on a silver platter.
Not to mention Byfield gonna have nightmares about what could have been if he simply cleared the puck in game 4 with the Edmonton net empty. That shit was career defining

TBF they were crushing Edmonton in game 4 before losing their nerves. LA choked away two games in what should have been 4-0 series win. It's not just that Edmonton cane back its the nature of LAs capitulation.

Honestly given what EDM did last season, even if they are down 3-0 against LAK a reverse sweep will not surprise me the least bit.

Was pretty hilarious when people thought MTL has more chance for a comeback than EDM did.

And yeah, Hiller is a complete MORON lmao.

The LA Kings are in a decent spot if they want to rebuild. No real long-term anchors.

They can certainly recoup a ton of picks and prospects if they elect to sell some guys now.

This series looked like the Canucks last regular season. Half way through, while on an absolute roll, switch to playing scared and 'safe' hockey. Worrying about defending a lead, rather than increasing it.

If you overly focus on play in your own end, then that is exactly where you will play.

Jack Michaels needs to calm the f*** down. Pickard is crap and he's trying to prop him up as Patrick Roy or something.

He's marginally better than Skinner which says a lot how terrible they both are.

I can't wait till Vegas ventilates them both. I guarantee they'll go back to Skinner at some point in the series when Pickard shits the bed.

Do the Kings actually do anything this offseason to improve the team?

The question is: what can they do?

They built a deep, solid roster, but their number one dman is 35 and number one center is 37. It’s very, very difficult to win in this league when the top of your lineup can’t match your opponents in the playoffs. 10 years ago Kopitar and Doughty would’ve pulled a Barkov/Forsling on McDrai, but for the fourth year in a row they just feasted.

In terms of the future, Byfield plays the wing, and Brandt Clarke doesn’t look like he has the defensive chops to be that go to, all around number 1 guy.

This team needs a Jack Eichel kind of trade in order to take that next step into being a real contender.

Rob Blake's contract is up. I expect they'll clean house.

I don't. It seems to be more of a boys club there than almost anywhere else. The sheer number of chances Blake has gotten despite being a complete moron is shocking.

If nothing else, Hiller has to go. That coaching challenge alone warrants it, but when you add in him defaulting back to the asinine turtle defense that led to one of the most lop-sided OTs in NHL history, I truly don't know how you give him another chance.

Both third periods of game 3 and 4 were just shocking levels of ineptitude that the Kings never really got back from.
