McCaan with another goal . Beauty too
He's doing well with Pittsburgh.

And the thing is, we've seen this type of thing before.
Player from the Canucks get parked at another organization and then forwarded to someone else.
Kassian to the Coilers (Chia) via MTL.
McCann to the Pens (Rutherford) via FLA.
Tkachuk hat trick tonight, PPG winger.
But naw, he's not elite, he's not important, he's just a role player who's totally not the core of any contending team. He's good but nah he's not great.
So to summarize the 30 days in 2016 between end of May and end of June we gave up:
22 year old 30 ES+ point middle 6 centre.
21 year old 40 goal, 70 point RW
21 year old 30 goal, 70 point LW
And we have Tanner Pearson and Olli Juolevi to show for it. Add in the gongshow of not getting the Dano + 1st (Borgstrom, Jones, Steel, Tufte, Howden) package for Hamhuis, nothing for Vrbata, not accepting whatever offer SJS had for Ryan Miller, etc. and it's no wonder this team is where it is.
I think we should give the GM one more year to undo the damage. He wasn't given a fair shake there. So to summarize the 30 days in 2016 between end of May and end of June we gave up:

massive gut punch. Even if you don't count debrincat, signing Eriksson makes up for that. Kassian trade included a pick.So to summarize the 30 days in 2016 between end of May and end of June we gave up:

OH YAH?The aftermath of the 2016 TDL was my personal lowest point in 12 years as a Canucks fan, and that includes the Cup Finals loss
Has any GM ever had a worse trade deadline though FA period than Benning had in 2016?
****ed up the trade of a major asset at the deadline and cost himself a #1 pick!
****ed up a major trade and wasted two prime young assets for a horrific player!
****ed up a top-5 pick and cost himself arguably the best young power forward in the NHL!
****ed up free agency and saddled the team with one of the worst contracts in the NHL!
Like, it’s truly amazing. Hit for the sh!tty GM cycle there basically.
That one offseason would be ground for firing even if he’d been decent otherwise, which of course he hasn’t. And nothing he did there was the fault of Gillis or ownership. It was 100% pure Dim Jim.
