Around the League Thread | Post Purge

Islanders suffered a 9-2 beat-down at the hands of the equally bad Rangers last night. They're on life-support and sure to be packing up early.

But what's next on Long Island? Even Roy's coaching isn't making much difference with this group. And although they have a few pieces in their lineup like Dobson, Barzal, Poluck and Horvat--not nearly enough. And they've already unloaded a stalwart like Brock Nelson, and Anders Lee is still productive, but aging out.

Wouldn't shock me if the Isles finally replace 82-year old Lou Lamoriello and launch a full tear-down and rebuild. I don't see that they have much choice.

But here's a question for Canuck fans. If the Isles adopt a 'scorched earth policy' and a guy like Horvat shakes loose--would there be any interest in re-acquiring him? He'd fit like glove in Vancouver--although he hits the big 30 in the off-season.

Absolutely Horvat would fit pretty much to a T what we need for a 2nd line C. Has offense can win some draws good character guy.

I'd trade Garland a solid prospect and a first for him. I don't even know if that would do it though according to Isles fans. Considering the alternatives I think he would fit well and absolutely he'd be a guy I'd be enquiring heavily about this offseason.

Strome grabbing at kuraly and then Leonard landing 2 punches on him while being held by Strome, I don’t blame kuraly for unloading those 5 shots on him. Kuraly is a dozen years older but no player is going to give a kid a pass for those cheap shots.

I was curious about Leonard in the league.

Bully in college

He’s been decimated now 3x by my count in the league and he is learning some tough lessons
Came in a bit hot headed (watched some wash after watching him in ncaa playoffs)

Lessons being learned.. super talent though

Miller with another 2 pts and a -3 in a must win game. At this point he is just padding stats.
Rangers lost 4 out of the last 5 games and will finish with less pts than the decimated canucks. You love to see it after they lowballed us in the trade and sent us a dude that was 1-2 hits away from retirement.

You need to be hella strong to play bully in the NHL as a rookie. The only player I remember doing that is Ovi and Lindros and they are like not human.

You have to wonder if the breaking point with us and Miller came not because of his thing with Petey but how hard it was for the coaching staff to get him to play D.

damn, Soucy lost the sauce

Kuzmenko continues to pile up points vs western playoff teams. Was a completely moronic trade, huge misunderstanding of where the teams strength came from.

Smooth heads, smooth brains.
Kuzmenko is on his 4th NHL team now, Canucks weren’t the only team to give up on him. He’s got tremendous offensive skill, but there’s massive flaws in his game.

Let's review Kuzmenko's NHL history.

- Great first season with us; fell off a cliff the following year
- Great start with Calgary; fell off a cliff afterwards
- Never climbed out of said cliff with Philly
- Great start with LA...

Noticing a trend here? Kuz has consistently been a one hit wonder where he excels initially, but crashes hard because he can't adapt his play whatsoever once teams figure him out.
