There are way more than most of us think that's the point
I can't agree with that. I had lists of 5-8 players in a rolling list and now it's 2. I'm looking more for AHL players that might get a spark by moving teams and a change of scenery to get to 2.

He's so bad defensively.

-43 on a D where the next-worst was -11 is generationally bad. And it matches the eye test.

Probably single-handedly took them out of the playoffs, 18-19 Gudbranson style.
just checked.. 6'5 giant Dman, sounds like the type of guy Benning would love to extend with a big contract if he was working for the Bruins.

Probably yes.

He's a talented guy especially for his size but his defensive fundamentals are non-existent.

Islanders suffered a 9-2 beat-down at the hands of the equally bad Rangers last night. They're on life-support and sure to be packing up early.

But what's next on Long Island? Even Roy's coaching isn't making much difference with this group. And although they have a few pieces in their lineup like Dobson, Barzal, Poluck and Horvat--not nearly enough. And they've already unloaded a stalwart like Brock Nelson, and Anders Lee is still productive, but aging out.

Wouldn't shock me if the Isles finally replace 82-year old Lou Lamoriello and launch a full tear-down and rebuild. I don't see that they have much choice.

But here's a question for Canuck fans. If the Isles adopt a 'scorched earth policy' and a guy like Horvat shakes loose--would there be any interest in re-acquiring him? He'd fit like glove in Vancouver--although he hits the big 30 in the off-season.

Is Barzal a center anymore?

it's kinda funny how Rangers and LA are poster child for a fast rebuild and if you look at them now, most of their draft picks aren't really doing shit for them. LA is probably in a better spot but it seems like their success still very much depends on the old guard, Doughty and primarily Kopitar.
They both double clutched the rebuild and bailed on it when it came time to actually hand the reins and ice time to the young players, choosing to double down on old vets and let the huge crop on the farm die on the vine or very limited opportunity no the pro club.

Yeah Gorton got fired when he wanted to continue the rebuild for like a year or two.

Blake just had terrible scoutung

I wonder if Pastrnak could become available. The team already did the unthinkable and traded Marchand, perhaps he's next.

no reason to trade unless he asks out. They are already tanking with him

I'm sure the ridiculous amount of assets he could bring in would be a factor.

He has 102 points this season. The next most productive player on the team is Morgan Geekie with 55.

Every team’s priority is to keep the losing period as short as possible.

It’s more likely they try to spend big and try to make some trades to improve the team.

Nah. He's a marketable superstar who can also ead the team and carry a heavy load while they rebuild around him. It made sense to trade Marchand and Coyle and guys like that but I think it's smart to keep their elite players like Pastrnak and McAvoy to keep things fairly steady.

Not a difference maker. No thanks.

Am I the only one who hopes the Flames can make it in? If only for the humor that we are the only Canadian team that doesn't get in. Now there's something I wouldn't have expected at the beginning of the season.

Nope.

I am also hoping the Flames make it in. As much as I hate our rivals, and I really do, I want as many Canadian teams in the playoffs as possible. I only really hate Edmonton right now, but still want them in playoffs. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah with all the political **** going on... this year feels a bit different. I might actually cheer for Canadian teams...very weird feeling. Not sure how to feel

Ott is in. And they have 3 more points than NJ but different divisions.
CBJ/NYR/Det/NYI can technically catch MON.
Habs need like 1 or 2 points to eliminate them.
