Around the League Thread | Post Purge

13 shots at home against a bad Flames team and they give up 35 against. Probably on par with the worst of any the Canucks efforts this season. Hopefully a sign of good things to come when we get them Saturday
Yep....the Rangers were booed off the ice at MSG tonight. And you couldn't find Miller out there without a scorecard.

But it gets better. Soucy has been a 'healthy scratch' the last two games, and has apparently played his way into Peter Laviiolette's doghouse in record time. I see the Rangers reporter on 'Hockey Writers' is lamenting what the front office ever saw in this guy.

I have no idea what happened to him this year, but he's just fallen off cliff. But I imagine he draws back in on the weekend to play his old team.

Didn't Soucy have a baby?

I think he will bounce back next season.

The league was watered down with 30 teams and now theres 32. Not enough top talent to go around
This doesn't hold up with the new talent streams that weren't around just a few decades ago.

Most people making this argument just look at scoring and skip over the fact that NHL coaches and systems are there to prevent scoring much more so then in say the 70s and 80s when the play was actually very sloppy and uninspired (especially in the 70s)

Soucy was expendable for one single reason--he was being badly outplayed on the left-side by 21 year old EP25.

The amazing thing to me is that they even found a taker for him, and actually got something back. Actually, the Sharks third rounder isn't all that bad considering it'll be at the very top of the third round.

It really is an underrated piece of work for Allvin. If you add up the term remaining on the contracts for guys like Miller, Heinen, Desharnais, Sprong, Brannstrom and Soucy it probably totals close to $18m.

Kinda' shocking really....in this era where 'cap space' is supposed to be 'king'.

GMs are more willing to save their own skin than a hockey team, and we took advantage of that. Twice.

How are the Rangers doing with JT? Oh, still out of a playoff spot you say? Oh, still fairly long-shots to make it you say?

I for one am *shocked*, shocked I tell you. And we are in a playoff spot as of today? Whoa. Life sure is strange. I don't know anything. I'm just some dummy who predicted this shit playing out exactly the way it has.

It's almost as if...JT....is a loser?

WHOA

HOLD THE PHONE DID HE SAY THAT?

You guys into pheromone theory? Do you guys like the way JT's shit smells or something? Come off it.

He's a loser born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Takes one to know one.

Horvat remains cltuch in OT as usual. Since he left we've always missed that. He's trying to drag the NYI corpse to the playoffs.
