What are everyone's opinion about these helmets the Predators were wearing tonight against the Oilers? Personally I thought they looked horrible.

I think they're great! Why is it horrible?

You're kidding, right?

What? Pushing the conversation getting people onboard with the idea of picking Sprong with our late pick? I am just saying I was pumping the kids tires. A lot of people and media types thought he was a great pick for us.

Look I understand I float around here like an ethereal god amongst the clueless cabbage, but still.

Then I'd think you'd know not to act like you expect hockey professionals like Mark Hunter to have read your musings let alone seriously consider them.

I acknowledged that our posts mean squat. It says so in the body of text you commented on.

I am just big on Sprong as I was Gauthier, Nylander and Hanifin. I simply see good players in them all but may be wrong. I like Mitch as well but feel he'll end up a quality 2nd line winger. Nylander will be L1, bank on that.

All the Jacket players are looking over after he scores like "who the hell is that kid?"

I didn't think they looked good considering the colour of Nashville's jersey.

I don't really see an issue. Looks fine to me.

It's pretty common to have the same colour helmet as the dominant jersey colour. That usually just happens to be a white or blue though. Nashville just doesn't have the typical colours. I actually really like that.

Kid is a player already sabres have a superstar for the next 15 years

My man crush on Eichel is getting stronger...

I still would have picked McDavid first, but damn Eichel is going ot make the Sabres go "meh, we like our kid. He's pretty damn good too".

On one hand I love that I'm going to get to see him lots since he's right down the road from TO (gonna make some more road trips I think...). On the other hand I think he's going to make us deal with a lot of pain...

Though it would be sick to get Matthews and see the two of them duke it out :P

I share your enthusiasm when it comes to Eichel, he will be some one to watch. But keep in mind Pittsburgh have had 2 of the worlds best players for a long time and only really had a couple of successful years, winning it all once.

Caps have had Ovi backed up by Backstrom and what have that gotten them.

Takes more then 1 or 2 great players so this is not a guarantee Buffalo will dominate us for years to come.

When you think about the players from Pittsburgh that have really come alive vs us in Toronto games, it's been guys like Staal, Sutter, etc. And Malkin, of course. You spend all your energy fending off Crosby, and then you get bit by someone else. Depth wins championships.

Not to mention that Buffalo has historically had our number in the past also exactly due to depth. They've typically run 3-4 scoring lines.

Eichel is very impressive. I do think the opposition haven't been focusing heavily on him because 18 year olds aren't usually this fully cooked. Life is going to be getting more difficult for him very soon as he's no longer flying under the radar. Teams are going to start keying on him. This is turning out to be the NHL's best rookie class in decades.

Yeah you aren't wrong, depth is what wins in this league. It's not the NBA where one player can dominate or a handful of players can make the league their play thing.

Though to be fair, while I didn't say it (I probably should have) I wasn't actually basing Buffalo dominating us on Eichel alone. I think they've done a good job of building a core that could be very very dangerous for a long time.

They have Eichel as the 1C, Kane as the top line power forward, Ennis (who I think is underrated), Girgensons as the fan fav and two-way defensive stud, O'Reilly (though I think he's overrated), plus Reinhart coming up, Moulson/Foligno/Larsson fitting in somewhere. I love the future of their defense built around Ristolainen (I pumped him hard during his draft year, haven't stopped loving him), Gorges, Bogosian, Pysyk, McCabe and potentially Franson long term if things work out. Plus Lehner has some strong starter potential.

Plus they have a strong group of prospects coming up in Hurley, Guhle, Carrier, Bailey, Possler, Oloffson, and Fashing (watch out for him...) And tehy still have a decent cache of picks for the next two years.

And their management has shown a total willingness to make moves using picks and prospects, which I love.

I honestly think Buffalo will be a very strong team in the future. They'll need time, and I don't expect them to be a playoff team this year, but next year onwards I think you'll see them play very strongly.

Leafs are far from the worst franchise in the NHL, let alone sports entirely.

We keep half the league afloat financially, have the best fans.

There's franchises who can hardly pay bills and have almost no fans (looking at you Arizona)

Leafs are just click bait
