It's pretty clear a conversation can't be had without it devolving into a political discussion, and one side has their head in the sand because they aren't part of the minority.

So the rest of you can have fun.
You might be surprised to find out how many people on that "one side" are part of the minority that you're concerned about.

Also, to start a conversation involving the political views of an owner, and not expect the following conversation to include politics seems a bit unrealistic.

What about mens volleyball?

Honestly not as interesting. And people have the nerve to say women don’t do some sports better.

Agreed, which is why I’m seriously wondering why we’re still talking about the Predators new owners beliefs? Not every one is going to believe the same why are people still foaming at the mouth disavowing him.

Looks like from the chart LA kings fan base is the most democratic while Preds are on the opposite side of the spectrum. Ironically I’m sure if their fans read some of the comments here they will find you just as stupid if not more for complaining about an owners ideology.

Let’s just focus on the game itself rather than trying to force ideology into sports and being upset when people don’t see things your way.

Unfortunately, life isn't difficult enough for most so they spend their time nitpicking others based on political affiliation and choosing to like or hate someone based upon those things. The Kings fanbase should be up in arms about Uncle Phil, he's got a Christian film production company. He supports organizations for unwed mothers to give them an option other than abortion. However, he does not proselytized people through any of his other businesses because that is what well rounded people do. They have their personal beliefs, but they can also operate within society.

So before we cast out this new owner, how about we allow him some time to see how he operates the team. "Hot Takes" be damned.

The Athletic posted their season predictions. Here's a few that pertain to the Kings:

MOST LIKELY TO BE TRADED:
Patrick Kane 93.3
J.T. Miller 83.3
Vladimir Tarasenko 83.3
Jonathan Quick 46.7
Timo Meier 36.7

WEST PLAYOFFS FIELD :
Colorado Avalanche* 100.0
Edmonton Oilers* 100.0
St. Louis Blues* 100.0
Minnesota Wild* 83.3
Vegas Golden Knights 83.3
Nashville Predators* 83.3
Los Angeles Kings* 76.7
Calgary Flames* 73.3
----------------------------
Dallas Stars* 53.3
Vancouver Canucks 23.3
Winnipeg Jets 13.3
Anaheim Ducks 10.0
San Jose Sharks 0.0
Chicago Blackhawks 0.0
Seattle Kraken 0.0
Arizona Coyotes 0.0

The fact that they think Quick is one of the most likely players to be traded tells you they don't really follow the Kings.

A lot harder on the Canucks and to a lesser degree the Stars than I would have thought.

IMO Kings have at least as many question marks as the others in their general tier, which I'd put as Predators/Kings/Flames/Stars/Canucks and mayyyybe VGK.

I also think the Oilers are a very fragile team to be rated so highly.

They were on track to miss the PO last year until the coaching change. One thing goes wrong with McDrai and they could struggle just to get in.

I think they definitely nailed the top 3 trade targets. I would enjoy watching Quick play for a contending team in the playoffs again.

Yeah everyone is a little over-flattering of the OIlers too but personally I can't bet against prime McDavid, at least to drag them to a playoff spot.

I agree, I don't see the Oilers as a "100% lock" playoff team, but they will find a way to get in.

Its really not an issue.
Tell that to the people who are harassed, threatened, assaulted, arrested and killed just for being who they are. Imagine if countries started jailing people just for being blonde haired. Just because it's not an issue you have to worry about doesn't mean it's not to other humans on this planet.

I do agree with with you that politicians live on pitting people against each other. One of the biggest dodges in the universe is politicians convincing 75 year old men and women voters that the biggest threat to their lives is dudes kissing dudes, women kissing women, and what a woman of child bearing age does with her own uterus.

@Raccoon Jesus I'm doing my best not to respond to his first sentence because I promised you I would not post political.
But in my opinion you need to shut this down now, the way you did with me.

Warning: you and I are on the same side politically. However, this message is simply making a point that partisan rhetoric is pointless when applied to entertainment. Aka, you’ll have a better chance of Axl wanting to fire Rob Blake than making a social justice argument on a hockey board.

Tell that to the people who are ostracized, shamed, silenced, arrested and killed for just being who they were brought up to admire. Imagine if governments started jailing people just for being traditional. Just because it’s not an issue you have to worry about doesn’t mean it’s not to other humans on this planet.

I do agree with you that politicians live on identity politics pitting people against each other. One of the biggest dodges in the universe is politicians convincing sexually liberated men and women and confused pronouns voters that the biggest threat to their lives is dudes who hate watching other dudes kiss but are down with two women, and what a women who couples with an equally irresponsible partner does when they raw dog after getting drunk.

They dumped that hack, Smith...replaced him with Campbell.
Keith also retired which will likely improve their defense. It opens a spot for Broberg to make the roster, which he should do on the 3rd pair. They were also able to re-sign Kane and Kulak who were legitimately great for them down the stretch.

They're deep upfront, and if Keith retiring is addition by subtraction plus Campbell/Skinner stabilizing the net, they should challenge for the division. Their defense will not be enough to win a Cup though.

I don’t think that’s much of an improvement. I think the Kings have had a better off-season.

I don’t know how the oilers do. I think the Kings, Oilers, and Canucks can all battle for 1st in the pacific or just be outside the bubble too. I’m not too sure

Touche. However what you're missing is the desire to impose will on someone else. If married Karen from Kansas wants to bareback her neighbor's husband and they both agree, I'm not going to tell them they're wrong, should be jailed, fined, or lined up for a firing squad. I'm not going to tell them their kids can't have state sponsored lunch money and have to starve. I might say to myself "I sure wouldn't have done that, but dumbass gonna dumbass", but I shure as shit wouldn't be calling my congressman or woman to make a law outlawing it.

That's the difference.

And yeah, there's no convincing anyone of treating everyone with decency and respect here. That was their parent's job. Better luck in the next life I guess? :dunno:

The Oilers have the offensive power to just brute force their way into the playoffs.
