I am not sure we would have enough cap

Lindholm = Debrusk + Forbort
Zadorov = Desharnais + Heinen + 1M

I'm not sure either but it seems pretty reliable that Cole was offered a contract and it was reportedly for ~$1.5M.

Maybe we make a trade? Don't re-sign Bluegar? The alternative is going into the season with like Juulsen as the #6 and Friedman as the #7. Maybe we bring in a PTO or minimum wage guy?

what does Cole have to do anything? Not sure if I missed something there…

Yeah no idea, maybe no bluegar and or Myers and or Joshua.
But yeah the makeup would’ve been drastically different if Lindholn and Zadorov stayed.

And worse

This board would be in shambles over lindholm right now

I think pretty much right after the season ended it was reported that Myers was likely to re-sign. In early June, it was reported that we held contract negotiations with Cole but he was likely headed to free agency. I am under the impression that we were offering Cole ~$1.5M. So it sounds like the plan was to bring Zadorov, Lindholm, Cole, and Myers back. So my point is that management budgeted for those 4 to return.

Nashville is having a disastrous season. If he shows chemistry with Petey at the 4 nations, I wonder if we could pick up Filip Forsberg without losing Lekkerimaki. We'd have 3 Peteys and 3 Filips.

Would it be asking too much to have more than one scoring threat on the wing?
But, if you are Van and with Hughes a 17 months away from being eligible to sign an extension, you need to try to compete. But, also need to think past this season in terms of how you are going to fit under the cap as keeping Brock is likely costing in around $8 million per. Plus adding Forsberg's cap charge.
And not having much coming up to supplement those higher contracts with inexpensive ones.

I really can't see any scenario we get Forsberg without Lekkerimaki or Willander going back. He'd instantly be our top scoring forward and second on the team as a whole. Personally, I'd consider dealing Lekk for him. Even if I am a bit concerned about his age.

That being said, Tortz is a complete moron. So maybe we could sell him on Hoglander having untapped potential. :laugh:

We need a C so much more than a winger...I like Forsberg but that will dig a huge hole into our assets and still leaves Chytil Suter as the 2/3Cs which is a non starter if we want to contend

Nice. A good Tortz burn. I enjoy.

Well if Lekkerimaki wasn't involved Willander ++ still would be so I wouldn't be interested.

We still need more help at center IMO.

I know that the cap is risking but just from a cap allocation perspective do we want Chytil as a 3C? That's a pretty expensive 3C. Of course we were also willing to pay Lindholm $7M to be the many purpose 3C.

I think we get too obsessed with defining line numbers. If he is our number 4/5 forward that’s probably the question. If he lines up as the “3C” but is a top PK guy and on PP1, then it’s probably fine. Won’t say he will be any of those things, but was more thinking in terms of if we kept lindholm or even Hirvat.

I'm not sure what the heck we'd be doing if we had Lindholm and Zadorov on those Boston contracts, which we offered them.

It's an interesting thought experiment:

- They used the extra cap space on DeBrusk, Heinen, Desharnhais, Forbort and Sherwood
- That's roughly $12.75m in cap space
- So they re-sign Lindholm to $7m AAV (not the BOS contract as that was not offered here)
- That leaves $5.75m for 4 players. $1.5m~ per player.
- So they still get Sherwood and Forbort, and perhaps have to choose one of Heinen/Desharnhais.

Essentially, it would cost them DeBrusk and Desharnhais. (Heinen preferred because they miss out on DeBrusk)

They didn't have enough to re-sign Zadorov after re-signing Lindholm.

After the Miller trade, centre ice is solidified and they still have enough space to get O'Connor and MPettersson.

They would probably be hunting for a top6 LW right now.
