Around the League Thread | New Year, New Me

Dallas came back to beat Vegas in OT, but lost Heiskenan to what looks like a serious knee injury.
Really awkward play, Stone kind of dove for the puck and took out his knee with his upper body. Ferraro sounded pretty angry about it and ripped on Stone, which surprised me. Didn't look malicious to me.

The reality is that wives and family play a huge factor.
The older the player the more likely they are to have a spouse and kids. So, that will play a factor. Sometimes, the player still leaves, like Pietroangelo did, despite his spouse being local to the St. Louis region (family support) and having triplets.

Hard to believe Saad is only 32. Seems like he should be pushing 40! He's been hanging on by a thread the last few years. 900+ games, a couple of cups and over $50 mil earnings....heck of a career.
Saad, the same draft as N. Jensen in 2011. His deal was front loaded, so he was due $3.6 mill next season on a $4.5 mill AAV. So, loses the final 30 odd games worth of salary (actually based on days left in the season), that is about $5 mill total. I don't see him making that money up.

Realistically, Blues would have had to buy him out in June, so he would have pocketed $2.4 mill in a buyout. Plus make the rest of his salary in the AHL. That is $3.8 mill there. So, would need $1.3 mill on a 1 year deal to come out even.

as i understand it, wasatch means mountain pass in ute and the mountain range behind salt lake being named that is a lost in translation thing.
