it was a code violation. mcdavid crosschecked a guy in the head he knew couldn't fight him. you know mcdavid is not doing that to a guy who would fight him over it. i am sure the guys at dops thought it was a gutless puke move.

myers was a poke the giraffe kind of deal.

MAXIMUM CHAOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

shocking that they both got 3. Thought McDavid would max out at 2, but more likely 1.

I guess he's got history and they probably didn't like his previous game antics so this have them an excuse to chuck on an extra game.

Giraffe legend. OTOH our terrible D just got worse. That'll be fun.

Oilers are a lottery team without Mcdavid. time to make up some ground on them

Nah, it's time for Drai to put the team on his back yet again. I imagine they'll be fine.

What's funny is seeing the salt over the 'poor officiating' or how the League is ruining his chances at the Art Ross.

McDavid being undisciplined and making a dumb decision on national television that required the league responding is what 'ruined' his chances.

I don't know what's Dumber people finding any excuse to justify cross-checking somebody on the side of the head or thinking three games is going to affect the player like his chance at an art Ross with the way he can pop off

I think it's "the Cup or Bust team getting hung up on regular season awards" as dumbest.

E: Also, I guess he wants some of that lucrative PJ Stock diapers money.

Another thing that amuses the shit out of me is that the Sedins took tons of abuse (no, them taking tons of abuse is not what amuses me), particularly early on in their careers, and they didn't complain to the league or throw tantrums on the ice.

Yet they were denigrated as 'the Sisters', despite their rather stoic attitude.

Apparently holding McDavid to the same standard of behavior as the Sedins is too much.

That's actually a nice little comparison, just play the f***ing game, play it hard play it honest good things follow but when you can't shut up for three periods it catches up.

Maybe if he actually had a personality it would work better for him, but you can't tell me no matter how great you are but the people officiating you don't get to a point where it's just like screw you shut up

If you need additional protection from the likes of, let me check, 5'10" 165 lb Conor Garland, then you just might be the biggest wuss in the NHL. What a whiny little schmuck.
What's even more hilarious is that the Edmonton media and fans are acting like McDavid was the one who was hit in the head.

He apparently needs protection from... *checks notes* ...a tiny forward wrestling with him on the ice for a few seconds. My god...he could have died!

The way the Edmonton media (consistently) bands together to write pro-Oiler narratives is jaw-dropping.

It would be like if there were 15 articles the next day in the Vancouver media pushing for a 10+ game suspension for Jeannot, and then the league caved to the pressure.

It's wild to me how their media has transformed the suspect but kind of understandable "stars will protect themselves if the refs won't" argument to the completely insane "our star is entitled to personally commit violence if the refs don't award us a powerplay for a harmless infraction".

Like, if Stuart Skinner throws his stick to make a save and the refs fail to call a penalty shot, does that mean Quinn Hughes gets to punch him in the head??

That whole fanbase/media is absolutely insane. It's the weirdest fanbase in pro sports.

I've been saying this for years - like, I hate Calgary and their fans are assholes, but it's typical rival stuff and it's mostly in the same way that our fanbase are assholes. Edmonton fans are something else entirely. They're just a collection of total freaks and weirdos.

The best thing about this suspension is that it'll lead to even longer suspensions if McDavid keeps acting like a little bitch.
