Whelp, if rumours are to be believed, even Allvin wanted to re-sign Lindholm albeit at a lower cap rate. But even then it would have been disaster.

For what it’s worth I do think he would’ve been playing better here in Vancouver as mainly the 3C then playing higher in the lineup anywhere else, like he wanted

I was beginning to think the Bruins were just going to be a good team forever, like some kind of perverse backwards Red Sox curse. But we might finally, finally be seeing the wheels come off. May their rebuild take decades, amen.

Yeah, and for some other players who tanked after moving on to a new team with new contract, sometimes the environment itself plays a big role in a player's success. One of the most defining characteristics of a top tier talent player is that success finds him, not the other way around.

Still, to this day I'm saddened that our team and Lindholm + Zad could not find ways to make it work for everyone.

How would playing down the lineup with 3rd liners make him play better than with Marchand/Pasta and on PP1?

Lindholm being a bad contract was so obvious, I'm not sure how highly paid GMs cannot see it coming? I guess Boston was desperate for a center, but they should know what they are getting going in, there should be no surprise or disappointment, unless their pro scouts had been sleeping on the job for the last 3 seasons.

The sick thing is I was a Bruins fan before 2011. Too many guys are gone for the hate to live on, for me.

Less pressure… playing against competition that was not as strong… not being counted on to be the guy…

Let's not forget that centering Garland and Joshua last year is like Bonino centering Hagelin and Kessel in 15-16. Lindholm earning $7M a year playing mainly on the Canucks' 3rd line isn't going to go well with fans here (unless he's the one producing while Petey and Miller aren't).

The fit for Lindholm was contingent on his ability to produce as a top 6 winger alongside either Petey or Miller. You combine that with the ability to play C (including high leverage minutes) and that's a valuable player. Not so much if he's producing like an average 2nd line C while centering the 3rd line.

The only thing holding us back from a full dunk is Zadorov with retention.

I don’t want my comments to be misconstrued either as me thinking it’s a contract that we should’ve been signing just that I think he would be playing better here in Vancouver

I said at the time, the absolute max I would go for Lindholm was $5M x 4 and in hindsight even that was too high.

I would have begrudingly done $6. That ended up being a rock solid hockey team, and our C depth from last year is gone baby gone. I understand why we didn't, and that was the wiser route.

I hate that these clowns are only adding to the mounting respect I have for Marchand.

Hey, if you add a few grains of sand to an anthill, that's still mounting.
