People forget how absurd Crosby (and Ovechkin’s) rookie season was because it’s been almost 20 years. Colby Armstrong has a broadcasting career because rookie Sid made that scrub a PPG player in the last half of the season and cleared his next closest teammate by 44 points, it was insane.

Bedard is good, but he’s much closer to Patrick Kane tier than the Crosby & McDavid’s of the world. That’s still incredible upside, but not generational.

Agreed.

And obviously being compared to Kane is hardly an insult. But the hype right now is over-the-top for what he is.

Not going to lie, this is some of the worst hockey I've ever seen lmao

Utah is a fun team but can’t defend.

Chicago is just a geriatric home. So many washed-up guys who can’t skate. How are Craig Smith and Patrick Maroon still in the NHL?

The Blackhawks are a boringly constructed team. They have Kurashev and Bedard along with with some mid tier talent in Hall and Bertuzzi but have elected to surround them by aging veteran guys who are devoid of skill.

I get it. This is about insulating the young guys and gently introducing the young talent coming up the pipeline rather than rushing a bunch of prospects into the lineup.

Still, Alec Martinez and Pat Maroon on the powerplay in 2024.

They did finish like 2nd last last season? You can’t go from basement to even respectable that fast. Maybe if Bedard becomes a 100+ point player this season. If he is generational he needs to put up 100+

Neither are anywhere near playoff quality from what I'm seeing how long will buttman need to bail Utah out now

Luke gassbag f off

Mikheyev on the top line is insane to me. Not even Bedard can save him

Another intermission segment where they hype up Edmonton. The media continues ignore the fact Edmonton had a rather easy path to the finals.

A crappy LA team in Round 1.

A Canucks team who lost their #1 goaltender and top winger in Boeser

A Dallas team who sustained a crapload of wear in their first two rounds and also lost their #1 shutdown center and Tanev.

They are a good team but they got a ton of help from the hockey gods.

They could sure use artyom levshunov out there on the PP and frankly the fact that they haven't found anyone to play with Bedard is a bit of a joke switching a guy to his line that he never played with in camp?

The defense is not near good enough and after next year cap hell to keep more than 1 line this year is cup or bust and im not sure they have enough to get there

The fact of the matter is that they are the best Canadian team for a chance for the SC until another Canadian team steps up and says otherwise but some fans just can't face it.

Also one of the 3 guys on the panel played for them as well.

Guess it will be a long season for some fans eh?

That game might have had the most goalposts I’ve ever seen hit in a game. 8 or 9 of them between the two teams.
