I said at the time, bringing in Ruff was just a laughably bad decision. Just a wacko coaching hire. Ruff is horrible on systems and it's obvious the Sabres have no structure. They needed a structured, disciplined coach.

I'd say clean house, but they've done that enough times already. Just fold the franchise.

To get out of the loser culture is a massive undertaking. This will truly be a franchise level effort - ownership needs to tell the GM that this shit is unacceptable, GM needs to tell the coach and players heads will roll if the losing doesn't stop. Then if they don't get the message, make trades to less than ideal destinations if the offer is right.

I'm just spit balling at this point. I don't (want to) hate the Sabres, but the whole franchise is smelling like hot garbage on a summer day. They need to figure things out now.

EDIT: and now it's 4-1 lmao

Laine is still a monster.

To be fair two of the 3 goals were from 5 on 3. But that's not to say Laine's shot when set up is anything less than lethal.

Sabers, man the whole team is getting SLAUGHTERED out there.

EDIT: And now it's 6-1...

I think this is beyond what Ruff can fix, it is actually core culture. We see this in Oilers before, it took them two generations talents and years of rework to purge that loser culture - the boat load of draft picks didn't do jack shit.

The Sabers are truly f***ed, and they are starting to sicken me (much like how the Hall/Yakupov era Oilers disgusted me back then) - a team sucked in the best talents of the generation only to let said talents waste their career away for nothing. TSN showed that players like Eichel, Reinhart, O'Reilly all went on to win the cup after leaving Sabers. Once the loser culture sets in, the franchise is stuck in a giant bear trap. I truly don't know how they can get out of this shithole situation.
They have a ton of talent. I can't say I've watched a lot of Buffalo this year. Oilers had a shit roster of young talent and bums.

I thought he would sell after his wife almost died....but nope.
Post heart attack, I figured at the very least he'd delegate most of the operations to other people. And spend more time with his wife and family.

Whether he has the right people in charge of the Sabres is a different matter.

But, I don't think they have an identity like Ruff's team did in his first go around. Elite goaltending from Hasek and gritty group led by Peca.

Lol really are you 10?
Come to think of it I'm surprised I don't see more jerseys around with second round pick on the name plate

Coming from the guy who ended his first response about a trade in hockey. Were you expecting an adult response to your sarcasm? You got sarcasm with sarcasm. Now you asking if I'm 10.

Before would be more fun.
It would be but the roster freeze starts in a couple of days and you have to give a bit of time for the vote of confidence ploy to run its course. However, getting trounced by the Habs maybe we get some excitement tomorrow.

Just Wow! This Sabres team just seems to given up. You really have to feel for those Buffalo fans and the team, if only because they're the Canucks expansion cousins.

But also because they must feeling as hopeless as Canuck fans were feeling during the height of Benning's reign of error in Vancouver.

You look at this Sabres lineup.....so many first rounders, including a couple of first overall picks on the blueline. And a far better roster on paper than their performance on the ice. But one of the longest playoff droughts in NA pro sports, looks like it will inevitably continue.

Something has to give. But what?
