God the Sens suck

8th season straight of literally the same pathetic team that has minimal cohesion and very little structure. They are so terrified of players leaving that they panic extend everyone instead of getting a better look at them (Colin White, Hamonic, Norris, Ullmark).

Terrible management and coaching ever since Bryan Murray passed away.

Also, now, how many of those locked in long term guys are going to want to continue. Brady Tkachuk is the big one. NMC come July 1. So, then controls flows to him if he later asks out in the summer. Have to know long before that whether he's all in or not.

Things seemed like they were on the right track til 2021 and they drafted Boucher at 10. Followed that up with the DeCat trade at 2022 draft, then Chrychrun at the TDL in 2023. Basically killed 3 drafts to end up with Ullmark and Jensen. No pressure to win with the owner having passed. Someone in that organization gave Dorian the marching orders to win now or were ok, with him doing so. Doubt the daughters were calling the shots after Eugene's death, though they did own the team.

that's a weird trade that might hurt both teams. underwhelming return for cbj which did not need picks but also that many picks moving may hurt minny more than the value of the individual parts. i get the fact it is spread over multiple drafts but i think ditching so many picks is going to hurt minny's pipeline and trade options.
CBJ I think has been forced back into a bit more rebuilding with gaudreau’s death.

Wow! The Utah HC NHL page is pure shyte. What a mess...lol. I was curious to see where Guenther ranked on the team stat page...they don't have a stats page!

Gaudreau was known to be a great teammate and Columbus was always likely to be able to afford him, so this might be a rare case where on the balance losing an overpaid 31-year-old player isn't going to make rebuilding much easier. Leaving to one side how it happened, obviously.

That is a whole lot of not much for Jiricek.

1st round pick in the 20s and a depth prospect.

Surprised nobody beat that. Great deal for Minnesota.
Which is funny, because the last report we heard re: Vancouver's interest was that CBJ told them they don't have the assets to get it done.

Pretty sure 31 teams had the assets to get that done if they wanted to.

Wild gave up a first, second, third and fourth between 2025-27. This seems like a lot to me.

Canucks acquired Zadorov last spring for a third and fifth rounder--and Zadorov was a 'sure thing'.

Jiricek is still only 20. Basically the same age as Elias Pettersson II and Kudryavtsev, and a year older than Mynio and Wilander.

He might become a legit top-four guy. But there's no guarantee, and that's the risk with any young d-man. I guess the Wild amateur scouts are convinced. But at that price in future assets, he better work out for them.

The thing is that they gave up quantity for a guy who could be a really good all around top 4 Dman both in the regular season and playoffs in Jiricek.

Also I think that Minny will be a better place for him to develop and it's the type of trade a middling drafting team like Minny needs to take the next step...if it all works out.

In a vacuum, I like the value Minny got, and am confused as to why a team in Columbus’ spot would do the deal.

However, I’m not sure the fit is right for them, especially with so much cap space opening up next year and them being in the middle of what should be a contention window.

The city in general is not a marquee free agent destination (unless it’s for guys like Parise grew up there), the free agent class is weak, and they’re going to want to make a big splash in the offseason to convince Kaprizov to stay. Emptying your barrel for a high upside prospect instead of on a top flight forward on draft night (eg Barzal if the NYI continue to suck) could come back to bite them.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a look at PP1 right away there, in a spot that's been a major problem for Minnesota for several years.

I haven't watched many Minnesota games - Faber isn't filling out this role well?

I have Jiricek in my keeper pool, so this would be a good scenario for me if it works out and he takes over PP1 duties.

Faber is not a PP1 QB, but is still a top pairing D.

Absolute horse 5 on 5 chewing up massive minutes, but he isn't very efficient on that PP unit full of a ton of talent. Some guys have the brain for PP movements and knowing when to shoot and when to dish it, and he doesn't.
