I think there is a better chance of JTM being the best man at EP40's wedding than a Stamkos TBL reunion.Good job Seattle. Nice return for Bjorstrand and Gourde. Tampa really doesn't care about draft and development. I like their previous trades where they acquired younger players on good contracts. But they don't have issues signing top UFAs so as long as they make good signings they should sustain their machine for a few years. Stamkos to TB salary retained?
Ana got him for a 4th in the summer. Basically rented him for 60 games then upgraded their pick by 65 spots or so.This is a demented seller's market. Dumoulin just traded for a 2nd.
I think it would be the opposite. Seems like a guy like Pageau would have the most value now, in a crazy seller's market, when the team acquiring team can get him for two playoff runs.Ana got him for a 4th in the summer. Basically rented him for 60 games then upgraded their pick by 65 spots or so.
That's why I think some teams with vets that maybe are not as attractive who have another year left like a Pageau from NYI, the Isles maybe better off waiting til summer to move him to a weaker club who needs vets and can flip them come TDL to recoup what they gave up for them.
Dum was retained at 50%. Some teams like Ana would be able to retain for a full year Teams like NYI likely want to use the cap savings to improve their roster. So, kind of depends on each club's situation.I think it would be the opposite. Booo, I was hoping Kane would screw them. But now they get to game the system instead, Vegas-style.
How much is it a result of the 2025 draft being perceived as being poor? Obviously it is more than just that, but I think this gets overlooked as people assume each draft pick is equally valuable year to year. This is a demented seller's market. Dumoulin just traded for a 2nd.
Makar/EP's draft was considered poor too. never know. seems we do pretty good on poor drafts. Like the Sedin year ('99?). we maybe able to trade Soucy for a low 1st/high 2nd! since hes rebounding. How much is it a result of the 2025 draft being perceived as being poor? 2017 second round has shown minimal nhlers. These are guys turning 26 in 2025.Makar/EP's draft was considered poor too. never know. seems we do pretty good on poor drafts. Like the Sedin year ('99?). we maybe able to trade Soucy for a low 1st/high 2nd! since hes rebounding.
If anything, people factor the "weak draft good draft" thing in too much. How much is it a result of the 2025 draft being perceived as being poor? Obviously it is more than just that, but I think this gets overlooked as people assume each draft pick is equally valuable year to year.
This Rantanen thing is annoying. If he just returns to Colorado and forms a superteam there next season it'll grind my gears, because it's always the same darling franchises who get these kind of freebies that beat the system. You wouldn't see Buffalo or the Islanders be able to have their cake and eat it too in this fashion.
Right?? Like how come the stars never band together to save, like, the Sacramento Kings. It's always the predictable places. That’s some NBA clown shit
For sure. Ducks had to eat 3/4 of a year's salary and then use a retention slot to eat 50% of remainig 1/4 to turn an early 4th into mid to late 2nd. You cloying probable get similar return eating 50% of a big star sized contractat the deadlineDum was retained at 50%.
