Around the League Thread | Drive to the Playoffs

Reaves and Rempe must be the only true enforcers in the league, and they're 50/50 to even be in the lineup on a given night.

Rempe can skate and has jam but keeps getting himself suspended. Reavo should have retired after 2020 but managers gonna manage.

About the same.

Which is to say Rempe has terrible edge work and stopping.

Can’t say I disagree, he puts fans in seats though like it or not. It’s good for the league to have those type of players in. I can live with reckless, I can not live with clear intent to injure like Nick Cousins and Nikita Kucherov do at times. Moot point since those concerns are so above my pay grade it’s not even funny.

Solid, smart trade by Florida.
Zito knows Jones from his days in CBJ, but that was a while ago. Still, they likely would have had discussions with Ekblad on what an extension looked like. Guess the term/money wasn't what they wanted to hand out.

By sending Knight out, who else is fla developing in net?

Guys like Rempe don't put fans in seats. People are not buying a ticket to see Rempe. Sure if something happens it can be exciting but in no way are people spending money in the hopes to see Rempe sit in the press box or play 5-8 minutes a game.

AHL (or ECHL where he probably should be) it's a bit different clientele where the prospects of some fights is a selling point. Not the case for the NHL. People watching the NHL are expecting to see the most talented players in the world. If it comes with toughness great. But toughness and zero talent isn't a selling point at the NHL level any more.

Well he's a top 10 centre. Not surprised at all. Nucks continue to shoot themselves in the foot time and time again.

Still cracks me up that many thought trading Miller was going to somehow improve the Canucks.
Still hate the trade, but we got younger players back in the trade though. Miller is going to decline while our players are getting in their prime.

Totally agree with that but this team wants to win now. I just hope we have more moves lined up because we are currently headed for purgatory.
Yes, especially when we are trying to convince Hughes to stay, this trade does not help him wanting to stay at all.

Jack Hughes out long term again with a Shoulder injury. Guy in his year 6 post draft is still looking like a So/Jr in college build wise.
Missed about 10 games as a rookie. Played all of the shortened covid year. Missed 33 games in year 3. Basically healthy for year 4. Missed 20 games last year and if gone for the rest of this season, another 20 missed.

So 6 years, in, he will have missed an entire regular season worth of games between 18-24. He doesn't look like he has the build to add much strength.

? It was a move that had his blessing. It was talked about how another star on the team even had a problem with JT. The narrative was falsely painted as EP vs Miller and was really the team vs Miller.

Everything I've heard is that Miller had a lot more friends on the team than Pettersson and that pretty much the entire veteran core group (Myers, Boeser, Demko, Garland, Joshua, Sherwood) were very tight with Miller and not so much with Pettersson.

The only thing I have seen say this is your inside contacts. While they may be true, it is not what has been reported.

There was a report about the other star player.

And I believe Friedman if not others as well have talked about how the team wouldn't do something without consulting Hughes.

Also being friends with someone is different than having to work with them.

This is pretty on-the-table that Miller was good friends with the largely US-born core veteran contingent here. Guys like Boeser and Demko put heartfelt goodbye messages on social media.

Hughes sounds like he was closer to Pettersson, yes. And may have been OK with moving on. But this wasn't 'the team against Miller'. He had *a lot* of friends in that room.

Yeah…

US fans definitely are buying those tickets…just not you.

And we all pretty much feel the same way about most of our reporters so

I've seen a hell of a lot more reporting about Miller's friends on the team than I have this notion that Miller was an outcast and the whole room supported Pettersson.

Maybe not Canuck specific, but if we also ignore the past, and don't look at the Lunquist incident, Schenn or Delia incident, Horvat incident, or that Yzerman has said he would never take him back on his team, or the fact Miller was never valued by the league even when producing like a top 10 centre in hard match ups what you say makes sense... I just need to ignore information we know.

Whether Miller has baggage is a totally different thing. He was popular in that dressing room with the players that were currently there.

Where is the bolded from? I've tried googling it and I get zero results.
