Wayne "the Governor" Gretzky
I think the Wayne talk is getting over the top. I think it was a big miscalculation by Team Canada to not remove him as the team's honorary representative. Could have asked a lot of other players whose political views are either neutral or just not known to the public. Whether it was because they asked him earlier and thus didn't want to notify him that they wanted to make a change, who knows. But, someone up top should have made that decision.

Wayne, for his part, is also kind of tone deaf too. Maybe he thought he had so much goodwill that he would be immune to any criticism. If he didn't want to say anything to counter the 51st state and his name as Governor, that's fine, but would be wise to stay out of anything Canada related for the time being.

The high of the 4N win can actually give him enough comfort to "suffer" the next two years with Pens.
Crosby can treat the next season and a half as an extended Olympics pre-season.
I was unsure how I felt about Ovi breaking the record, him being a Putin guy but after Wayner’s act on Thursday and his affection for Trump I say Go Ovi Go!
The enemy of my enemy is my friend? What if he is also the friend of a worse enemy? Ah, to hell with both of them.

I heard Wayne had spent time (giving pep talk, announcing the lineup etc) with Canada team before the game. The media just needs a straw man for political reasons.

BTW, stop that 51st state BS, why does a GOP POTUS want canada to be the 51 state? Trump is not that stupid :')

Anybody lived in Toronto ?

I listen to TSN 1050, and these guy don’t even come into the office like 3 or 4 days a week, becuase the traffic is soooooo bad

3 out of the last 4 teams have had to abandon their bus and walk to the game against the leafs

I remember Tom Cruise had a premier for the most recent MI, and he said he’s been in every major city in the world for premiers
Nothing comes close to traffic as bad toronto.

Used to live in Toronto and the changes to the city are insane. Haven't been there for a while but all my personal friends have moved away because it's getting increasingly worse.

While he's largely trolling with shit like the 51st state comments, if you don't think he doesn't have a huge interest in Canada's natural resources, I dunno what to tell you.

Hearing these stories from the NBA and NHL

The traffic
tomtom navigation has it as the 3rd worst traffic in the world
IBM traffic has them as the 4th worst
Some other firm has them as one of the worst

interesting in Canada's natural reasources does not mean Canada should be the 51 state :') Anyway, he is trolling our PM.

Correct me if I am wrong. Did it happen to the Leafs once? The traffic was so bad that Leafs took the subway to their outdoor practice facility. Since then, they do it every year.

He's creating headline distractions so you don't bodice what's he's really up to. The biggest worry is he starts getting jealous of new crush Vlad and then starts believing his own distractions.

Trump is NOT trolling. He's testing the waters. If he comes out unscathed in the 2026 midterms, we are in trouble if we just sit back and assume he is just trolling. Just look at the whole "resort in Gaza" and the "give me $500 billion in rare minerals" to see what we could eventually be up against.

Sorry is this a politics forum or a hockey forum lately I can’t tell.

I am careful to try and not cross the line, I am sure I have in the past... sorry mods.

But the truth is sports, including hockey and politics do get intertwined. the four nations is a prime example. For many it brought times back to the Summit series. It has also played in with BLM a few years ago. Sometimes there will be cross over, it is just than important for us to be careful to not cross any lines.

I’m way more forgiving at allowing politics talk but I’d prefer it kept to proper and relevant threads.
