I'm not sure what you're talking about. I thought it was decided that Tobias Rieder was the problem up there?

I just find it funny that shortly after the Oilers brass decided to make those comments, Ottawa’s owner one ups him with his comments.

- Says the mayor of Ottawa should “shut his mouth.”
- Says any fan that criticizes the team isn’t a true fan.
- Calls a highly respected Ottawa reporter “bush league.”
- Claims Mark Stone will be “too old” at the end of his contract.
- And finally takes shots at the Maple Leafs, claiming their rebuild “forgot about defense.”

As much of a dogshit person I think PK is/was, this guy makes PK look like a saint.

I think playing an opponent on a back to back is an advantage, but it's certainly not guaranteed win territory against anyone. I think gassed is even way overstating it. Least of all with a team like Tampa. We'll see how the Minny game plays out. I think our record is great on the second half of back to backs, and probably a rather large contributor to our overall good record.

It's more about who they play than the scheduling for either side. This team still stinks against top competition.

Minnesota (21) is an opponent in Carolina's sweet spot. I like their chances tomorrow.

Cool breakdown, though I'd imagine that changes frequently. I'm assuming that's based on current standings? I'm not exactly shocked we've had issues against the cream of the crop. We're good and improving, but still not all the way there yet.

I disagree. I think anytime you play a back-to-back with travel against a team that rested, you should get an autoloss. I think actually playing games is pointless.

I'm not sure what's more eye-opening, the 2-7-3 against the top 5, or the 8-7-2 against the bottom 6.

This is a good sign for the future. Canes are outworking and beating teams that they should outwork and beat. This seemed to be a struggle in the past. Moving forward the team needs more offensive talent if they want to compete with the big boys. At some point you just can't outgrind a team laden with star forwards.

Minnesota actually shouldn't be taken lightly tomorrow. They're surprisingly good on the road, especially lately.

They can't win a home game to keep their playoff hopes alive, but their road game is killer.
