Andersen played in the regular season. The Leafs still had to be cap compliant to fit him in

Only because we put Hyman and Bogosian on LTIR. If they weren't hurt, we don't have the cap room.

It is really as simple as putting a salary cap during the playoffs. We won't be able to afford Andersen, but who cares. He's not a big deal for us right now anyways.

Our PP SHOULD look like Tampas.

We have just as much skill on our first unit. no excuse
We don't really have the same personnel though. They have 2 world class shooters on either wing, and a BOMB from the back-end. We have 1 world class shooter, a non-factor wrist shot from the point, and a great passer, with an accurate shot, but won't really scare opponents.

No no no. We have Morgan Rielly (and maybe malhotra) running it into the ground. Put a decent puck mover with a good point shot I guarentee its much better. People forget how good it was to start the year.

This game is like a more physical version of the Toronto Boston series...Florida fully carrying it at 5v5 but Tampa's PP being the equalizer. What a f***ing PP it is.

Our team was also constructed to have this kind of PP but we have a career PK specialist designing it. Go figure.

Do the Leafs have this kind of gear to hang in such a heavy hitting and high paced game, or would things just never get this heated in a game with Toronto in it?

Brayden Point. What a hero.

He definitely seems to have a flair for a dramatic.

Our guys seem to shift down a gear in these super intense games instead of go up like Tampa's guys. When the going got tough vs Columbus, Tampa's guys buckled up and took over the last 3 games. Our guys have yet to prove they can do any such thing.

I don't know if that game was just super sloppy or both teams were both good at forcing things. Probably a mix of both.

We definitely don't actually. 2 of the best one-timers in the league on each board with Stammer and Kuch and a great point shot with Hedman. We have an elite shin shooter in Rielly and a non-factor shooter with Marner with 0 PPG goals (though fantastic at distributing the puck).

For this current era, I don't think we've ever seen this gear out of Toronto where we were getting mauled, taking big hits, dishing big hits and pulling out a late one in emotional fashion. We certainly have some pieces for that kind of hockey now, but like the Kucherov PP goals and Point's breakaway, you need those big guns to preserve and come out ahead.

after watching the playoffs games thus far what I have learned?

1. Thank God we did not pick Bennet. The guy took two dumb penalties and tampa scored on both of them

2. Hypothetically speaking even if Leafs were to make the ECF I don't see how the Leafs snowflakes are going to hold up against high intensity hard hitting and hard checking teams. North division does seem like a JOKE

That was an absolutely insane game. I don’t think we’re even close to matching that level of intensity.
Gotta hope they wear themselves out after the first couple of games. Heck the winner of the series might be long done if and when they match up with the Leafs.
Yea it's a joke, but that's kind of what the NHL is nowadays
Imagine rehabbing 91 or 16 for the year, signing studs with the $11m in cap savings and adding 91 or 16 for the playoffs. Total bullshite.
