No surprise it's going to game 7. The series is just like one of their usual games. lol
Just a sick saucer pass by McKinnon.
Good pickup for the Habs
The 3rd rounder is what they got from the Caps of Kovulchuk, so that is a win for the Habs
Montreal was a backup goalie away from serious contention? Seems like a stretch.
Pronman's 2020 under 22 rankings:
31) capitals
28) sharks
26) oilers
24) vegas
21) ducks
on #17 so far.
I think Kings fans probably thought this system would be ranked higher than it currently is given how many high picks they’ve had recently and, for the most part, the success of those young picks at various levels. I think there’s a lot of great young talent in this pipeline. It is possible a year or two from now the Kings have a ton of young pieces on the roster making noise and providing hope for the future. Almost all of their top young talent is still outside of the NHL, though and there is a lot of projection as opposed to NHL certainty with this organization. Also they lack that true young game-breaker, which they could get with the No. 2 pick.
Fagemo ranked #1

Colorado was my pick going in, and they are still alive. I would make them the underdog in a series against Vegas, if they can win Game 7 against Dallas.
Sounds like Bettman thinks there will be fans in the stands in December. I wouldn't bank on that in California where we will be locked down until 2025.What it does , it makes them a much better team. They essentially traded Kovulchuk for Allen. And by doing so, they finally, after far too many years, have a very good backup goalie. Someone who is very capable of winning gamges for them.
I don't think Price is overated, i think he's overworked. You lessen the load by bringing in a good goalie to take about 30--35 games next year (esp since Bettman is insisting on starting first week in Dec and 'adjusting' the schedule to accomodate a timely finish. Translation, instead of 13 or so games a month, they will be at 16, to end sometime in May) When rested ,Price is a very good goalie. He was outstanding in the playoffs, and although the Flyers were the better team on paper, Montreal was the better team on ice. Most of the goals they went past Price were body part goals. THey had plenty of zone time, by not enough finishers. Too many players shooting high ,wide and 3 feet to the side. They have the CAP space to change that.
ALlen was the better goalie last year for the Blues, reg season and playoffs. They banked on Binnington and their Cinderalla goalie , showed his colors this year. Now they have no backup goalie, a ? for a starter, Taresenko with serious shoulder surgery , who may not be the same. And clearing space to pay Pietro a boatload of money to regain a Cup run. I don't see that happening.
Look at the Bolts, giving Vasilieky 9.5 starting next year and only 13 skaters signed at are at the CAP. They knew that would be the score and rolled the dice, overpaying to keep him. And unfortunately, that will become the going rate for elite goalies. And because of the players they will lose in order to keep their heads above water, they will decrease their odds of being a Cup winner.
ALlen is on the last year of his contract. And it givess PRimeau a whole year, 50 games or so, in the AHL to enchance his game. Then the following year he can step up as the backup in Montreal Thats a huge plus.
So I think it was a great deal for them, as it makes them a much better team and a team that if healthy with the right additions, are capable of a deep run next year.

If this is the case, I think it would be most cost effective for the NHL to have an abbreviated season and play the games in various bubbles. Not sure the NHLPA will go for that either though unless the NHL finds a way to accommodate them seeing their families.I don't think so, I haven't read anything to that effect , and not in the US. The NHLPA wouldn't go for that, way too risky. There were players who didn't even want to be in the bubble for 2 months and that is far more sterile than fans being there. Even at 30% capacity, thats way too many people inside a building.
I know in July there was a idea that the NHL was supposedly working on for four bubble cities with eight teams in each bubble (though one bubble would have only seven teams). The teams would play seven to eight games in each bubble. Then rotate to the next city. I don't see this working , as players didn't want to be separated from their families for 10 weeks during the playoffs, so 5 months wouldn't work.
I get that close to 40% of revenue is based on attendance, but this virus is far more important and Bettman needs to realize that. SHut it down until 21-22. B ut he is not going to do that. Although I can't see how they will play next year, even with empty arenas.
Sharks mailbag: Logan Couture's political comments; targeting Tyler Toffoli
I don't subscribe to the Athletic, what did Couture say about Toffoli?
It is a sneaky title, but he leans hard on that semi-colon Couture doesn't mention Toffoli, it is just about him and his political beliefs and how he hasn't been that open about it before; therefore, he likely didn't make up the story he told recently about being attacked for stating he was voting right-wing and mentioned Pavelski's past comments about Kaepernick which were neutral and benign.
Then the article segways into if Vancouver will re-sign Toffoli and goes over Thomas Drance's comments that since coming back from injury he has been a liability on both ends of the ice and that it is up in the air if they re-sign him. He argues that this could be a good thing because it would keep his re-signing price down and says that a 5 year deal at $25 million would be a fair price.
I would keep Toffoli on a short leash in terms of the length of the contract, two years is what I would suggest. I don't think a GM can let Toffoli get too comfortable.I didn't even notice the semicolon...okay thanks. I think that would be a good move by the Canucks to sign him. You get traded in Feb, new team, new system, not an easy adjustment but he did good. He wsa good in the playoffs as well, the short time he was there. But there are other teams that could use him and I could see him ending up in Columbus, Edmonton . Jets or Sabres.
He calls it "organizational rankings" but the first sentence of the article says "Pronman's annual deep dive into the farm system of every NHL organization..."
Sorry, but Makar, Heiskanen, Matthews etc...are not part of a farm system: they are the best or second best players on their NHL teams.
I talk about rankings all the time and how they don't necessarily mean anything; however, I read these articles every year and Pronman has gone and ruined any continuity the rankings had. Kings drop from 4th to 13th with only Wagner graduating but it is because NHL superstars are now included as being part of the farm system.
If he wants to do a "Best 22 and younger group of players" list, which he has, then that is fine but don't speak of it being a farm system ranking. Matthews has 282 NHL games under his belt hahaha. What a stupid decision to make for the article.
