They give Brannstrom $2M, Korpisalo $4M. Leave their 20 goal C without a contract and offer him $1M during training camp / preseason, in a year where the playoffs are the goal and you have two injury hobbled Florida teams in the division. Sloppy.
Senators clearly want to be the Boston Bruins. "Hey, let's low-ball everybody except our free agents! That won't backfire on us, right?"

I'd say Vegas and Jersey have some stacked lineups as well, especially with the studs on their D line, but yeah our lineup up front is probably the best

If they're waiting on Jones I put out trade offers to send him out west, or at the very least wait until the 11th hour before waiving Jones just to inconvenience Tampa, screw them

Yep. I’d hold onto a three goalie system just to screw Tampa into making a trade.

Is there a way Leafs can keep 3 goalies and still ice most of the guys they want?

I'm guessing there will be a trade if they went that route but it's probably unlikely.

Just sucks every year it's like clock work work losing a goalie.

I think they are close, but I think they will lose in the first or second round this season. That said, I expect them to finish first in the Eastern conference.
With the transition from Boston/Tampa at the top of the East, I think it gives NJ, NYR and Carolina a real shot at going to the Cup final.
You never know, I hate counting out TB Bos or Florida, but it seems unlikely one of the Atlantic teams will good enough this year.

I’m just thinking of Tampa takes a big hit in goal for a few weeks - that damage to a division rival is better than having a depth defenseman or whatever. So having an inefficient roster could have a bigger positive impact in the standings.

Yeah again if they can make it work. Just tough in a cap world but we'll know soon enough.

Any chance the leafs try and claim Caleb Jones? $775,000, immediate help on defense and is still young

Who would he replace?

I’d honestly waive Giordano at this point, too old. Let him retire. Benoit, Koko down as well.

Jones - Liljegren

Third pairing or you can keep Giordano up if you want until Timmins gets back, trade Lafferty for a pick. Long shot but I wouldn’t mind that pairing.

On paper maybe but there's no way they will do that to him if we look at this objectively. Giordano is still pretty solid, despite the regression.

Jones would probably be a much better option than Benoit and Kokkonen though right now as a 7th D

And Leafs finish 1st in the division and end up playing them in the first round with a healthy Vas in net.

Vas sucked for the first 6 weeks of last season and Tampa did alright, I know cause I drafted him………
.

Goaltender Jack Campbell posted his third consecutive one-goal-against game, closing the pre-season with a .0.99 goals-against average and a .971 save percentage, not to mention a 3-0 record. He has been sharp as sharp could be in this exhibition season, and should earn the opening night starter Wednesday night in Vancouver.

“Pretty solid right now,” he said post-game.

After a disastrous season last year, Campbell went to work on body and mind this summer. So far, so good.

“Lots of good changes,” he said. “A lot of work and tweaking some things, so it’s nice to see the pre-season paying off with the changes.”

Stuart Skinner was OK this pre-season, but his numbers — 2.66 GAA, .886 save percentage — aren’t close to Campbell’s in what Woodcroft deemed “an open competition” for the starting assignment in the season opener.
