Tidbits: Around the League: NHL News - 2024-25

I think Carolina won the trade pretty handily, so I would not be sure psyched about that return. It's just what the equivalent would be. I do like Marchenko a lot though.

I think if Colorado would've been able to snag Nikishin and maybe a 2026 1st instead of the secondary pieces that they did get, I'd have that much closer to a fair deal, if not fair.

Maybe we should all pitch in together to buy a present for grieving CO fans- they've got to be devastated. I'm thinking a carton of Kleenex?

Brady Tkachuk broke a 10 game pointless streak tonight. It gives him 2 points in his last 13 games.

So, what names made the shortlist for this round?

  • Utah Hockey Club
  • Utah Mammoth
  • Utah Wasatch

Move the team back to Arizona, this is already a failed endeavor

8 years x $8.5 million for Brock Faber now looks like a steal.

Boldy at $7M is great too. Would’ve been nice to have Rossi locked up around that amount too, but we’ll see what that extension looks like.

The value we’re getting out of contracts like Ek & Middleton are also great.

On a slightly related topic, I do wish we had cap available to have been involved in this trade. I think Farabee would’ve been a really good cost-effective middle 6 winger.

Those are some massive jumps. Just for the purpose of signing kap I wish they would have just announced the one years because things could get a little crazy.

No, no, no. Definitely glad the Wild weren't a part of that. I can't have a guy with a name like Farabee on the team. Reminds me of Flowbee. While it really isn't close (like, at all), it's just close enough that my stupid brain makes the jump. And I can't be thinking of shitty, vacuum related hair cuts every time LaPanta belches out his name. We clearly dodged a bullet not getting involved.

What's the cap today, is it 88M?
With the cap penalty 14,7M gone, that'll be around 22 million more next year, and 35M two years later.
