Canada: McCann & Tanev (both confirmed )
USA: Beniers, Daccord
Sweden: Burakovsky & maybe Larrson
Denmark: Bjokry
Germany: Grubi isn't even mentioned there
Finland: Tolvanen isn't even mentioned

Do the players get paid good money to play in it? Like in soccer it's more about pride/exposure to play and in the NBA it feels like it's not worth the risk of injury.

Not sure on the money part, but mostly for country Pride and to continue to play high level hockey. Winning medals lasts forever just like for the World Junior tournaments.

I understand it for the younger guys like a Shane Wright or from smaller nations but if your are a star NHL player with big money on the line it's definitely a business decision

I'm looking forward to the new Blues-Edmonton rivalry. Apparently due to a stroke of circumstance Robert Thomas was with Drai and McD at some camp somewhere when the Broberg/Holloway news broke and he reported they were pissed and it was awkward. "They weren't too happy with it." LOL

St. Louis has been highly involved in changing the balance of power between owners and players. Curt Flood in 1967, then the Blues changed hockey with their relentless use of the rules to sign free agents in the 90s with offer sheets, and bore the heavy league punishment for everyone's benefit.

exactly, it's that report from a week or so ago about their gut reactions which has me more piqued on Broberg than I was at the deadline when Oilers fans proposed sending him to STL for Buchnevich. apparently the Blues were aiming at a Buchnevich for Broberg/Holloway at the deadline and the Oilers declined

I think we stole Holloway, that is a player. This is a sneaky year to bet the Blues making playoffs, complete revamp of the bottom 6 with young pros: Texier, Joseph, Faksa, Holloway. But it's been real low key so I think the wider market doesn't see it yet.

edit: I would say specifically the acquisition of Faksa whose specialty is defensive center stopper may transform the O-zone start % for Thomas, who bore an unusually heavy defensive load for a top line center last year.

Florida's basically where he broke out during the pandemic - he pushed Montembeault out of the backup job and then was pressing Bobrovsky for starts. Good situation for him; I bet he enjoyed it.

Yeah, IIRC he signed there after his contract with Ottawa wrapped and the Sens didnt offer him a new one? And obviously he saw enough success there that he was a pretty high profile expansion draft pick, at least at the time of the draft. Guess his time there left an impression.

Was hoping he'd land somewhere he might compete for a backup spot at least, I guess it's a little surprising he landed in Florida as I guess I assume Knight is pretty well locked in for them behind Bobrovsky? I guess I was considering that as part of my "he must really like it there" logic as he could have picked someplace with a more "open" goalie situation?
