  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Got assigned to work the Dallas game tonight. This is going to be the game where Rantanen gets out of his funk and puts up 5 points and I'll have to sit there listening to it.
Congrats-

Not close enough to the Stars but I wonder if he is feeling the pressure of not producing in his “designated”/Finn heavy team yet?

One team you can shrug off on the team; two and now it’s on you!

like my shitty ex-gf who's mom was on her 3rd marriage (which also ended in divorce) but was somehow insistent they were all horrible men in the end or they changed (probably because they could only suffer through so much)...

For real I had no idea the jokinen face shaped hole that was in my life

Was looking at the East's possible playoff matchups. Given an easy SOS (higher number is easier), Ottawa looks like a lock but they do have to play Columbus 3x (that's as odd as when the Canes played Tampa 3x early in the season). Detroit has a nasty tough schedule too & unless they surprise won't make the playoffs this year. I guess it's down to one of the NY teams with Ottawa or Montreal and Ottawa.

So, we all agree the best outcome is for toronto to pass florida, jah?

give me

toronto - ottawa
florida - tampa
canes - devils
caps - who cares (islanders, i guess. just to lol at rangers and habs. wish cbj could get there, but...)

i don't care much out west. give me first round avs-stars and oilers-kings. the rest is whatever.

Well, after the first period, it's scoreless in Dallas. Rantanen had a breakaway that he never fully had control over, and he took a lazy penalty with 20 seconds left in the period.

And now 4 minutes into the 2nd, he's taken a puck to the face and is heading to the locker room

Jeebus, saw the replay of the "goalie interference" that wiped out the would have been game winning goal for the isles - it would have broken the tie with about 9 seconds to go - and all i can say is they got f'd with a cactus.
They did but their 3rd goal that was challenged and stood was pretty iffy. And really just by getting to the shootout they kept ahead of Columbus which pretty well keeps that last spot between them and Montreal

Refs ruined another potential goalie fight last night. Kuemper got run into, started swinging at the Bruins players, Swayman and Kuemper meet at center ice. Swayman removes his helmet and his gloves, refs step in.

And I know the reason why they do that, and it’s unfortunately a valid one. The league doesn’t want any fights happening where the player removes their helmet (because smacking the head against the ice is less than ideal), and unfortunately, there’s no way goalies can fight without removing their helmets.
Equipment trainers should have a skaters helmet at the ready for goalies who want to fight.

Bob Gorman probably has 2 at the ready for Kochetkov plus 3 sticks.

It’s a better version of JR’s final years in Carolina, where the second half surge is just enough to sneak into the playoffs and still prevent a complete rebuild of the foundation.

Oh I think you are misremembering the past a bit.

We didn't make playoffs for JR's last five years here.

So the second half push was even worse.

We went from "great" to "meh" draft pick, and didn't even have playoffs to enjoy.

God I do not miss the Karmanos days
