LV...While technically smaller, given its reputation and awareness, doesn't quite fit the mold of a small market.

I think in this day and age, Vegas would be a "destination market", big or small in that case doesn't really matter.

I mean the two Florida teams being good at the same time opened that door for them too.

Because both Vegas and the Florida teams have outside factors that make living there worthwhile. Even if the team sucks, you get to enjoy the Florida weather. Even if the team sucks, you’re living still in Vegas.

Funny sequence in the St. Louis/Utah game tonight. Utah’s Liam O’Brien is a known fighter in the league. He has 37 fights in 208 games played. So, unsurprisingly, he’s looking for a fight in a 0-0 game against St. Louis rookie defenseman, Tyler Tucker.

They line up for a faceoff at the right circle in the Utah zone. Puck is dropped, O’Brien drops his gloves and flings away his stick…and Tucker shoots the puck into the net as the one guy that was supposed to be pressuring the point off the faceoff dropped his gloves and flung away his stick.

The two then fought on the resulting faceoff at center ice.

Tampa is a big city with 3.3m in the metro. Florida is located in a smallish town but between Lauderdale and Miami that’s a big population too
