Unsurprisingly, Necas + McKinnon is just too fast for most teams to keep up with. And Boston wasn’t exactly a fast team to begin with.
Very fast. I know it's only their first game together, but it looks to me like Mac is going to miss Rantanen's net presence 5on5 more than most will let on. I think they might have to adjust and/or move Drouin off that line

My worry for that line is can they keep Necas from trying to Heropuck it all the time, and can they avoid MacKinnon ripping his asshole apart when he inevitably falls back into those tendencies

Necas and Drury can’t help but be Rangers hating Canes players even when they aren’t canes players anymore :) Was so nice to see Necas and Drury have a bit of success quickly with the Avs today and especially to do it against the Rangers :). Extra sweet for the Rangers to get nothing out of that game and lose in a dagger like way after refs tried to put their finger on the scale for the rangers with the ridiculous late penalty..not even a loser point for them coming back to tie it in the third…. It was poetic it ended up that way today…

Unless he is just so awful over time that they are forced to move him off his line, Necas can’t help but put up points on a line with Nate Mac…..

So far he is definitely showing that he can skate with Nate Mac and when they get more in tune their combined speed is going to be so hard for teams to handle.… they are figuring it out as Necas is much more of a perimeter player that avoids contact and MacKinnon has to adapt to that…. You could see NM having to adjust during the game today as they figure out each others tendencies as they play more together…

I’m happy Necas landed in a good spot for him and his next contract. Avs get a player who can help keep it rolling for them at a significant cap savings compared to what they would be paying Rantenan on a new deal next year. Even if he blows up next season as well on the last year of his current deal, no way Necas gets 14M from Avs either.

This really does kind of work as a sort of win-win trade for both teams given the circumstances…
