What you got against QC? I mean who wouldn't love the Davenport, Bettendorf, Moline and Rock Island? They have John Deere, Modern Woodman and the American Pickers folks to bring in as sponsors...
That would be the ultimate troll if there was the infrastructure there to support a team and a billionaire willing to be enough of an asshole to do it.

NHL announcement: QC GETTING TEAM!

Team Name: Davenport Nordiques. Iowa Wild re-locating to Twin Cities.

IMO just give expansion franchises to the highest bidder, period. If is Atlanta and Houston, so be it. If it's QC and Austin, that works, as well.

Well that's just it. You're more likely to find "the money" in Atlanta and definitely Houston than you are elsewhere.

I'm sure Austin has a billionaire or two that could in theory get it done but at the same time Austin has always had kind of this too-cool-for-school attitude towards sports that aren't NCAA or minor league. But they seem to have a successful MLS franchise so far, so maybe the time to strike is now?

Toronto is interesting. They certainly have the population to have 2 teams but as long standing and as popular as the Leafs are would anyone really be a fan of the new team?

In my opinion, nor enough to justify the thought. They'd be like the LA Clippers I think. No one outside the GTA would give a shit about "The rivalry" just like no one gives a shit about "The battle of Los Angeles", but holy damn I bet TSN would jam it down everyone's throat just ESPN tries so hard to promote Lakers vs Clippers.

Hell get them to be owners.

San Jose/Austin/Carolina has untapped potential for a Nerd Bowl rivalry if all three teams happen to be good at the same time. I'd be very down for that, personally.

But see, that's the thing. I'm not as pro-or-anti Quebec as this board tends to be. To me, if some rich guys want a team and are willing to pay for it, they should have it by all means. If Quebec City finds a crazy billionaire or a large group of multi-millionaires (aka. what Nashville did to hold onto the Predators) that can put up a big enough bid, they should, by all means, have the Nordiques back. If they don't, well, they (and especially their fanboys) should shut up.

Shots: Sens 27 - 11 Blackhawks
Score: Sens 0 - 4 Blackhawks

Would I be crazy to say I see a lot of similarities in this Sens team and the 18/19 Canes? Aggressive defense, focused on getting pucks on net, often just can’t get on the scoreboard

Even in our 4-0 victory against them I thought they were generating a decent amount of offense, just no finishing

Fair enough and yes, a "nerd bowl" rivalry sounds fun lol.

Personally I have zero interest in seeing the Nordiques again. I wouldn't really have cared too much but their bloggers or whoever spreading false relocation rumors and then coming to this board telling us it was a done deal and we can support them there, and then the whining when Dundon came aboard and their failure to sell out a preseason game? Yeah they can eff off.

Also, just my opinion but they wore some of the ugliest jerseys I've ever seen. If I never have to see those IRL I won't complain.

Other than having 5+ goals in each of the last 5 games … been a lot of that this year. But mostly in November.

Random-ass 3 assist night from Anders...Bjork? In his third game of the season...just shows you how even the worst NHL players can play hockey better than almost anyone on Earth.
Pro hockey players better than the vast majority of the planet that are not pro hockey players? That might be your boldest take yet.

It was an odd way to phrase my thought, but it's sure funny to see a random tweener who was somewhat underperforming even in the AHL (apparently) to just show up for an NHL team and have a three-point night.

If the Clippers ever have sustained success like Golden State did, that shit about them being a second-rate team would switch in a heartbeat. They were saddled with Donald F***ing Sterling for decades. The exact same thing would happen with a second Toronto team if they have a sustained run. Sports team success is almost entirely about who's good and almost nothing else.

It's easy to forget just how skilled even marginal NHL players are. Pat Dwyer topped out at like eight goals per season.

One year, this was one of those goals:

Plus we'd finally be in the same division as Nashville who should've been in our conference instead of Detroit when they made that change years ago. It's still mind boggling that a team that is literally across the border of our state, isn't even in the eastern conference.
Thing about Nashville is it’s in the central time zone. Not sure who is making the calls but having games start at funky times for your home area is something the nhl seems to want to avoid

Atlanta probably wouldn’t be much worse than Ottawa ;)

Yeah, would love to be in a division with Nashville again though. Fun fans, fun atmosphere, and even though it's not as close geographically as the Metro is, the cultural closeness would make that a great thing.

But yeah, the NHL wants time zone alignment above all else. That's why it was 16-14 for a while, the Eastern Time teams in the West just were having a bad time of it.
