Funny moment in the handshake line with Harley lighting up when he sees Jake

Nobody happier than Jake that he didn't have to play

USA and Canada are even on the ice now IMO

The difference is the Canadian braintrust and coaching is still superior

Some thoughts:

I will say, man that USA defense is insane. Most fun I've had watching a team defensively in a while

I can't wait until Johnston is on this Canadian team. Hope he can make it for the Olympics. He'd do so well with the top-end talent out there

It'll be interesting to if this tournament changes perspectives on the players involved. Jack Hughes would have me slightly concerned if I'm a Devils fan. He was not good and was getting physically dominated every shift.

Meanwhile, guys like Brady Tkachuk just doubled in value. Was fun watching guys who have never played in the playoffs/big games like this.

Great tournament

I think of the Devils as more built around Bratt/Hischier with Hughes as a compliment but yeah, that's not a team to be taken seriously

Although there's a huge caveat here -- the whistles were put away in this tournament. They are not put away in stock NHL. You CAN win a Cup based solely off a PP. Four Nations was a showcase of even-strength monsters (which, coincidentally, is why it was such good hockey).

Random shit:

Hope we do this tournament from now on at least every other year, but somehow include the smaller countries

The All Star game is so terrible that it'll be tough to go back to that format compared to this tournament

With all the injuries to star players, I fear the owners won't want to do this very often which is unfortunate. Hopefully this grows the game in the U.S., especially with all the media attention these games received

JT Miller straight up sucks ass, glad we didn't trade for him. If you're gonna be a hothead at least back that shit up with solid production, guy was a disaster

J. Hughes was way worse than I thought he'd be, he got dominated all over the place and was supposed to be a leader on the team (lol). Also a turnover machine and is soft as baby shit

Nelson, Kreider, and Trocheck over K. Connor (don't remember if he was a healthy scratch or not), Robo, and Keller was a bad call. East coast bias I guess but seriously... Brock Nelson? Shouldn't have even been considered

Injuries to McAvoy, M. Tkachuk, and Q. Hughes definitely hurt the team overall. Coaches had to over-play the forwards to compensate once Tkachuk went down while Kreider played 6 minutes and Trocheck 10 minutes. Maybe M. Tkachuk should have realized he wasn't ready to go, swallowed his pride, and let someone fully healthy take his spot because in the end it just hurt the team

Boldy led forwards with damn near 23 min TOI for some reason and had a pretty bad game, though he was good in the other 2 games. He's a very Jekyll and Hyde player

Adam Fox is so much worse than I expected, guy is so damn slow and was -2 tonight. In the running for most overrated player out there

I guess Canada can keep their country for now but we'll see how it plays out
