The Panthers are probably just bored with the regular season. For a team that returned the entire core of a Cup winning team and a Cup finals team the year before they have to be considered an elite team still. Other than that, I don't see much in the east in terms of elite teams. The west has 4-6 depending on what one thinks of the Jets and Wild.

Unfortunately I think the Panthers will go through the Eastern playoffs again with relative ease only to match whichever team wins the war out west to show up beaten, bruised, and worn out.

The competitive imbalance in the Conferences is unfair, but it's life I guess. Very likely that more than one team that goes out in the first round out West could have a very good shot at getting to the Final if they were just in the other conference.

Oddly enough, I think this may be the Leaf's year to go deep. Imo they are playing worse than last year, but on paper they have improved in defense and goaltending. I still don't believe in that core, but it's like you say where it seems the rest of the conference has fallen off.

That is kind of funny because that's what it took for the Raptors to win it all too
They could, the east is ripe for the taking. The Leafs ran it elite teams like the Bruins, Lightning and Panthers in years past but none of those teams are as formidable this season and I do think Berube is a better coach for a playoff run than Keefe so it's possible but that core is allergic to clutch outside of Nylander so it's hard to win 4 playoff series when a core consistently shrinks in the big moments.

Canucks were called out last year by several astute posters on here for their unbelievable and unsustainable shooting %, and it has come to pass this year, as they slip back to the norm.
I laugh at how bad their "stars" are.

Boeser is more invisible than RNH. Just brutal player. Drives nothing. Does nothing. Had a goal bounce off of him in Toronto. Pure pp merchant

Demko is like 883 and two wins in eight starts.

They deserve all of this humility

Miller got four points in mtl then none in four games lol

All I hear about weak skinny Pete is how he was selke like in Toronto lol. He's looked so bad this year that fans and media are reverting to him being just great defensively..

Like Mathews back in the day. Leaf fans started talking about puck retrievals,, blocks, etc. Lol

Want to laugh? One of those fools thought that was so amazing that it deserved a thread on the mains.

JT Miller ANOTHER 4 point night

Looks like they changed it to McLeod now. It was originally given to Thompson.
Because of the auto-goal awarded by the refs, Buffalo gets to hang a banner up for being the first team to score a goal without registering a shot on net in a period. 🤣

It's actually even more hilarious:

Speak of the devil!

Colorado was a complete yo-yo and not that good. They really stabilized with that Blackwood move. Another 931 thrown up today. I am waiting to see when he falters.
It sometimes takes time for the rest of the league to write the book on a goalie. But, he also really could be this good. The signs were there, and Colorado showed real commitment in trying different guys out. It's very smart to try out goalies with good stats on bad teams. It was the same with Ullmark

I’ll echo what someone said in the game day thread - Nuck dumbasses have been A LOT quieter on twitter and even this board.

Their clinical obsession with the Oilers appears to have gone away as well. Even those idiots know that they’re in no position to say shit, which is strange for them.

There's only 2 scenarios for this:

1. They grew a brain overnight and realized "We're shit again!"

2. The rest of the braincells are gone and just forgot they got a hockey team.

I'd more lean to Number 2 IMO.

The Oilers have the opportunity to do the funniest thing possible since they play Vancouver twice in the next 7 days with the Canucks season already on life support.

Don’t think I’ve ever hoped the Flames win at all, but I wouldn’t be upset if they put a few wins together over the next week or so exclusively to give us an opportunity to put the Nucks 4-6 points out with these games.
