Why we watch...

Michael Lewis is one of my favourite writers. He also has an excellent podcast called Against the Rules. The current season explores some of the science of fandom and sports betting. Thought some peeps might have interest in the first episode

"Sports fans experience incredible highs and lows, and spend loads of money on a product over which they have no control. But for a long time, no one bothered to study the minds or impulses of fans. Michael Lewis finds out how that's changing as writers and academics learn more about the powerful psychology of fandom. Just in time for technology to exploit fandom more than ever."

I learned everything I need to know about fandom from the movie Major League.

Lol, but in all seriousness that podcast does sound interesting. I’ll put it on during work today.

Will Vegas even lose again lol. They already played the toughest part of the year.

Barbashev has been injured for so long too and he had 30 points or so in his 31 games. He is still coming back.

Oh. The Sharks put Georgiev in net despite this being their only game in a 6 day stretch. Been getting too many points this season, need to give Askarov the week off.

Pospisil grabs the ducks stick and flops down to draw an interference penalty in OT.

I liked watching the flames players waiving to the fans in the corner.

What were they waiving at? their playoff chance?

Pimplesil sure fits in with that group of losers. Desperate cheating to get an extra point, it'll be the difference between drafting someone decent too, hopefully

The way the west teams are winning, there is basically one playoff spot left. Going to be between Canucks, Flames, Utah, and Blues.

Egging on another teams fans in their city is idiotic, especially a city full of mongrel sports fans like Philly.

Try doing this is a soccer stadium in Europe or Latin America and see what happens.

Former Vancouver superstar Daniel Sprong has been waived again. Wasn’t he supposed to be the next coming for them? At least you’d think he was, the way they were hyping him up.

I tried to find the tweet and failed, but when they signed him some loud Nuck idiot on twitter posted some gif of Alvin in a nice suit slowly crossing his legs with a caption of something like "look at this beautiful genius."

Made me laugh and shake my head at the time, just wish I could find it to troll with now.

Was wondering if that fire was going to start affecting things. Happening in an upscale part of the city, lots of large big ticket homes going up in smoke. Can't believe how ferocious that fire looks.
Very dry and heavy winds, like when they get going up here, all that wind makes it almost impossible to stop.
