Wow

The stink lingers.

This continues to be a broken and toxic organization. They just keep spinning their wheels despite tons of high picks and a crapload of talent running through. Just a terrible mix on defence, and no real leaders up front. And the goaltending is mediocre.

Rags are broken
You love to see it
You have to think Laviolette's head is on the chopping block. The only thing left is whether they leave him at the airport terminal waiting for a cab.

Lol wonder what the Sabres and Rags can even do. If they were Canadian markets their coaches would have been fired weeks ago. I mean start there at the very least and see what happens.

Buffalo has been bad for so long, that they have fired their current coach once already, not often a team fires the same coach twice. :)

Holy shit. Thats true. Fired in 2013, and they haven’t made the playoffs since. That’s gonna make a great NHL trivia question one day.

Rangers getting blown out yet again. This time by The Blues of all clubs. lolol. 3-0 and counting. What a freefall. Rangers were in first place at one point. Now looking like junk.
Is this the players being disgruntled about the Trouba trade (and the lead up to it)? I’ve not followed things here, but it seems the fall coincides closely with that.

They were struggling before that.

They are basically who everyone thinks the Oilers are. An average 5on5 team that gets propped up by special teams. This year their PP is average so their record is average.

Why didnt they fire the coach first? You don't go trade off the captain and call it a day.

This is oddly satisfying to watch lol.
If only the Rangers could call up a young and hungry coach from the AHL that could teach Elite Team Defence and turn an entire season around at a drop of a hat….

LOL. Actually I thank the Rags for Knob and Talbot before him. That organization from the Sather days on has always done nice favors for the Oilers it seems. Probably cause the 80s Oilers are the only reason they have one Cup in 70 years.

It was apparent Trouba was complete trash after the playoffs. I called it right after they got eliminated and told Rags fans that Trouba was problem numero uno.

They tried trading Trouba in the offseason too but failed. So they pretended like they’d tried to make it work. Then the team cratered and Rags management had another excuse to go after Trouba and put the pressure on for him to GTFO outta there.

He just plain sucks at hockey and the Rags were never getting anywhere with him as Captain. But I mean they got rid of $8M of his cap hit and are doing nothing with it. Like yeh get rid of Trouba but still spend that huge hole in your Cap now.

So who is next to be moved? Kakko? Or do you think they fire the coach?

I’m not sure what they’ll do, I can’t predict their competency. But I would find a new home for Ryan Lindgren. Dude also sucks and was a big issue in their playoffs.

Got some cap but nuked the locker room in the process.

it's been a strange season in Vancouver...something is "off" about that team
from Pettersson slow start to the Miller leave of absence, to the constant Demko injuries to Tochett crying to the media about "Petey"

now Friedman is spit balling Skinny Pete to Buffalo rumours

I see a major shakeup coming

They're in a funny spot because reality is kind of half slapping them in the face.

They aren't on the run of everything turning up roses like it did last year, but some things are still turning up roses. They're getting good results and production from depth players, Debrusk has come in and performed, and they avoided catastrophe in net with Lainkinen playing very well. On the other hand "Petey" is still a mopey little bitch, they physically can't win at home, and Miller is so odious they told him to just go away.

They're in an amazing spot from the perspective of someone that hates them because they're ripe to do something stupid in an attempt to regain last year's glory. On 32 Thoughts Friedman said something to the effect of "Rutherford is probably looking at teams like the Oilers, Knights, Wild, and Jets and saying, I think we're going to need to make some changes to compete with these teams in the playoffs." They still see themselves as contenders (they aren't), so they're going to make moves to try and get there. They'll just end up shooting themselves in the foot.
