Vegas always finds a way to get back into games even when they have no shots on goal for ten minutes. Its amazing really.

I checked the AVS board when it was first starting to be finalized and announced. kotkaniemi was rumoured to be part of the return and they weren’t too happy about. As they should be, then they found out it was Necas, Drury, and picks. They seemed okay with it especially if they still add and Landeskog Returns.

Apparently Rantanen was asking for Draisaitl money, he’s good. But I don’t think he can part the sea like Draisaitl does without McDavid, if he didn’t have MacKinnon.

I think he’ll still be a PPG player depending on if he develops good chemistry with Aho.

They traded an elite (but overrated, yes) player for a very good one. You rarely win those trades, at least not in the short term. A lot of 'self gaslighting' going on over there right now, as there would be here if Leon had been traded for a 'very good player and some stuff'

Agreed with this. Best player in the deal usually says who won the deal. Canes win and then some in this deal. That said its a rental as Rantanen is free agent. Colorado probably can retain Necas. Hall is an added bonus I guess for the Canes but also a rental. Think his contract expiring as well.

Gonna be tough for the AV's but they know they couldn't afford the Rant asking price and frankly its too much. They're letting some other club pony up for that. Was a rock and a hard place. This puts so much weight on MacKinnons shoulders to be the whole team and frankly Makar has been not great lately. Its looking like a one player team. Necas will help, but not nearly on same level as Rants.

If Carolina does not 1) win the cup this year or 2) re-sign Rantanen then this may well be a lose-lose deal for both teams.

Personally I don't think Rantanen improves their chances of winning all that much and Carolina has been notoriously stingy. They have a lot coming off the books next year so they can easily afford to re-sign Rantanen but he would be by far their highest paid player.

Yeah, like I said its a likely rental. Maybe of both Hall and Rantanen. I think the latter has priced himself off of several clubs. He ain't no Draisaitl. Remains to be seen how much he is as a player without Mackinnon, Makar etc. Not value for the amount he's allegedly asking.

Its possible both clubs got worse through this trade.

That said Necas is quite a player and AV's probably can retain him. They knew they couldn't pay Rants so it ends up being consolation I guess. Personally I'd like Necas. Has some unique skill sets and blazing speed.

Gonna be pretty hilarious if Calgary makes playoffs and the Canucks miss. In fact I'm actually kind of rooting for it which something I never thought I'd see myself saying. Probably because Vancouver fans are so obnoxious and the Flames are irrelevant even if they make the big dance.
The only problem here is Calgary has a pretty youthful group of guys all getting their break this year and they’re playing well. I hate to say it, but Wolf also has all the makings of becoming Kiprusoff 2.0.

Either this season is another outlier for them and they’re taking advantage of the Canucks/Blues being shit or they have somehow through blind luck expedited their rebuild process with draft picks that are panning out.
