Building his case with big, quality minutes on a team with league's worst goal differential at -18. Heavy own zone starts and pk time. Good character within a losing culture. Right handed shot which is a premium attribute. He'll find a new home. Solid pick up who can be leveraged for Sharks culture build and spun off for assets.

Very uneven pairing with Nurse and one of the weak spots when they needed the pairing to elevate in crucial moments (blame also shouldered by his more expensive partner). He’s a solid 5D, for sure. In a cap world, a luxury the Oilers could not afford, and led to a trade that was beneficial to the Oilers when the expectation was they would have to “pay” to trade the player

20:21 ave toi as an Oiler over three seasons, 62.2 % defense zone starts and heavy goal suppression situational play and PK. Overplayed on a solid $3.2 million contract. Oil got solid value out of this player. Don't see a reason to shit on a player who kept getting slotted in by Oiler management and coaches to plug a sustaining team deficiency at 2RD which is an even bigger hole right now. Especially with his old team rocking a #32 PK at 62.5%.

I find the Stamkos situation pretty fascinating personally.

I think the majority of people knew he was washed when it comes to his 5 on 5 play but he still a PP weapon.

I knew Guentzel was an upgrade over him and a better use of cap space. I thought that Stamkos leaving would cause a bit of a rift in the line up though.

But TB has continued to march on. It makes me wonder though who decided to move on from Stamkos? I wonder if Kucherov, Hedman etc didn’t want him back secretly. Or was strictly a management decision.

We will never probably know but I do think it’s interesting.

My guess is that it was management that wanted to move on for the money he wanted. He’d probably still be with Tampa if he took around 5 million.

I remember listening to Seravalli indicate that Stamkos was asking for less to stay (like 5/6m range). But I got impression that TB didn’t offer him anything and didn’t really want to negotiate. Who knows though.

My understanding is they offered significantly less probably knowing he wouldn’t accept.

No idea who that guy is, so just spitballing here … couldn't he refrain from drinking beer while making videos? Or drink his beer from a cup? Seems like a lot of drama.

This guy might be misdirected with his Leafs adoration, but he is all in on the Leafs and does nothing but support them, and goes above and beyond being just a fan. I get a kick out off his videos and the passion he has for that team. This is going to blow up on social media and not be a good look for the big corps.

It's such an incredibly petty tactic too.

If you're Molson, just call the guy, flip him some $ and have him guzzle Canadian's exclusively. It would probably actually get them pretty strong marketing exposure for not a ton of cost. Insane to me that legal threat is the preferred route here.

Reason 6,730 why I hate the Leafs and Molson’s Canadian made barley swill.

Agree. It's a bad look for the bullies
