Really would love to see some upsets this year but teams like Vegas, Colorado and Tampa just have so much playoff experience I can't see it. Also FLA vs TB is a brutal 1st round matchup... should be the ECF. This playoff format really sucks
I don't even need to post my bracket, aside from the tiebreaker yours is identical to mine LOL

Would like to get people opinions on adding a play-in tournament to the NHL? I am not in favour but I see NBA people consistently saying it's so entertaining and has been a massive success.

Here is an overview of how it works:
  • Each conference’s No. 7 team in the standings will host the No. 8 team. The winners secure the No. 7 seed in the playoffs. The losers will get another chance to earn a playoff spot.
  • Each conference’s No. 9 team in the standings will host the No. 10 team. The winners will advance to the final stage of the Play-In Tournament. The losers are eliminated.
  • The losers of the No. 7 vs. No. 8 matchups will host the winners of the No. 9 vs. No. 10 matchups. The winners secure the No. 8 seed in the NBA playoffs for its conference. The losing teams are eliminated.

I would rather it change to straigjt 1 to 16 bracket than add playin imo

Too long already

I like it, as it would be very exciting to have a couple of single game elimination events. I don't really care if it adds a couple of days onto the season. Jun 15 vs June 19 is irrelevant to me.

5 canadian teams in is a lot, surely one will win right? I’ll say Edmonton because McDavid is too good of a player not to win and they got unlucky last year, though Ill be cheering for them to lose.

Add Cronin to the list of dismissed NHL HC this season. Out as the Ducks HC after 2 seasons. Figure it's a personality thing with the players. Improved 21 points in the standings, but friction with the players plus style of play. Think Verbeek needs to make the right hire because if the next HC can't get them into the PO by the 2028 PO, Verbeek could also be gone as GM. Not sure he'd have the rope to hire a 3rd HC.

So, we have Ana, Chi, Phi, Bos needing a new HC so far. STL fired Bannister and hired Montgomery. 5 HC changes between start of 24/25 season to the start of 25/26 season so far.

Figure any of the Nash, NYR, NYI, Det, Buf could have a HC change. We already had like 10 from last season. Turnover in NHL HC is kind of insane.

Youre giving them til 28?

They could start adding now

Anaheim fired their coach today

New York fired their coach today

Ours is unsigned, with rumors today we're offering just north of 3,000,000 when the top paid coaches make 5,000,000+.

He gone.

I know Laviolette has coached majority of time in the east, save for a couple seasons in Nashville, but could we swap coaches with NYR again?

If the Ducks hire the right coach they should be a lot better next year especially if they get the same type of goaltending they did this year. Rangers letting Drury hire another coach is hilarious to me.

I think that’s the maximum time the new ducks HC has to make the PO or he’d get fired. Plus Verbeek as well. So Verbeek needs to move pieces to make a team not just collect assets and see which develops. Now has to figure out how to obtain what the club lacks.
