Olympic gold medals are extremely overrated. The cups is a fair argument. I think the fact that you’re perplexed suggests that you need to expand your horizons since it’s not a forgone conclusion. There’s plenty of arguments to be made for both players, however Ovechkin I put higher.

Is that what I said? I thought I was clear that Ovechkin while not being as complete of a player excelled at the most important aspect of the game, goal scoring , which no one else has ever came close. That’s why I ranked him higher.

Dont want to mess up your argument, but Isnt who won more cups/medals 75% on the GM and maybe 25% on the player? I dont agree with the goals thing either - though goals are def harder to accumulate than assists. The Pen org has had many more runs of excellence than the Caps.. I would say that had a lot to do with Crosby's 3 cups. Still, I would bet if you polled coaches, the majority would pick Crosby due to his overall excellence in all facets of the game as a 1C.

Yea its on the gm to surround their stars with talent. Both guys have been on some really good rosters in their careers though. I like both of them it was great watching them play.
