I think he made the right call. Ovi doesnt look too thirsty. Leonard got his first goal because of it - sharing a little bit of the spotlight and the fun. And above all he can pass TGO with a goal worthy of being replayed 1000s of times.

I think it's too late to go into a full rebuild at this point. I think the Kings exited their rebuild too early, but you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.

They will need to make wholesale changes if they're a first-round exit again, in my opinion, but that's a conversation for later.

Dude - I actually had the EXACT same sentence in my last post before I decided it was a bit too much!

I do think that deciding not to get the empty netter in a natural game situation like that is actually insulting to the game. Putting your preferred way of scoring a goal above your team is the exact kind of douchebag move I associate with Ovechkin.

I hope somebody worth celebrating passes them both.

Add to that they didnt look too good against them in the 3 games in 8 days. But their PP is 19th OA at 21% - thats more on par with the Kings and the Blues wont present the mental baggage that LAK has with EDM. So Im pretty on the fence about it. I think with no Jeannot, EDM will bully the Kings again for the 4th straight season and win the special teams by alot.

The Great 8 is now the greatest of them all, in just the goal category at least. It was a nice ceremony. Simply incredible putting up the 40+ goal year despite the injury. Of course, the Capitals were doing all they could to get him there, but it doesn't make it any less remarkable.

Crosby > Ovi, even after the record. 3 Cups and multiple gold medals all while playing the hardest position in the game as a 1C, matching up against every team's top line year after year. Ovi just farmed PP goals for most of his career.

Ovechkin is the greatest player in the last couple decades at this point. It’s so sad to see Pens fans having issues and trying their best to downplay him. It’s a simple fact, you can score goals without assists but you can’t get assists without goals.

Truly a GOAT. Crosby is a fantastic player but Ovi is the better player with a bigger legacy.

Ovechkin has 39 career unassisted goals.

Sounds like assists are pretty important to even the greatest goalscorer.
