Edmonton had a terrible offseason.

Losing Mcleod, Holloway and Broberg (cheap young players on the cusp of their prime), in favor of old guys like Arvidsson, Skinner, Perry and Henrique might be the difference between winning the cup and not for them.

They actually lost to Buffalo in a trade. That says alot.

Didn't they have a pretty good interim GM and then some old hat came back and f***ed up everything? (sounds familiar)....Either way, good news for us and the rest of the division. They really f***ed up in not keeping Broberg and Holloway. Broberg was especially impressive filling in on D during the playoffs, he didn't look out of place at all.

Would be in the AHL with no PP time here though

But I remember a few of us being miffed at that draft

Pretty much, this is a pretty common thing not just in LA. Everyone gives Clarke shit for his defensive lapses, this guy is worse . He'd be getting lit up around here like Durzi use to. The Habs don't teach defense and his metrics show this, including the -15 . But he can score though...

What is common?

People said the same thing about Hughes his rookie year, to small, can't play defense, blah blah blah. And then he, you know, got better, like most young players do.

To many people (including those in the Kings org) hyper-focus on deficiencies and ignore world-class skills that players have, not realizing that the deficiencies can be way more easily fixed or worked around than the world class skill can be taught.

But when you want an organization of vanilla "well-rounded players" lets not complain when the team can't score goals and has one of the worst PP's in the league, what do you expect when you just don't have players like this on your draft board.
