Around the League 2024-25 season

If DL didn't have such a hard on for Lucic, the Kings could have had Kyle Connor play with Gabe as Kings.

Futa mentioned that they were planning to take Barzal if they had kept the pick, which makes sense. DL clearly wasn’t a fan of the way Red Berenson developed players and he didn't place much value on wingers. If they had kept the pick and taken Barzal, it probably would have created a butterfly effect, where the Kings wouldn’t have spent four years desperately trying to draft young centers to eventually replace Kopitar.

Winnipeg’s trio of forwards is truly a joy to watch because they complement each other so well. That power play is the most lethal I can remember since the Penguins had their five-forward setup (Lemieux, Jagr, Kovalev, Straka, and Lang) during the season Mario came back. I hope they make a run since they’re such a likable team, but I kind of get the feeling they’ll draw Colorado and Makar and MacKinnon will likely put on their capes and break their hearts.

Not to mention Hellebuyck has some demons to exorcise.

Well, that's no bueno...

Michael Russo of The Athletic reports Kaprizov could be set to undergo surgery on the lower-body injury he's been dealing with since December.

I wonder if he will miraculously recover in time to play in the first game of the playoffs.

I feel like Werenski is getting his due becasue he's at least in most people's Norris finalists with Hughes...but yeah they sure aren't highlight packaging him nightly like they do Quinn, that's for sure.

This year he looks a lot like he did in those AHL playoffs vs. the Reign long ago...I said he looked like Lidstrom at that level and if he took even a piece of that to the NHL he'd be an allstar. Seems like he's channeling that this year. Not flashy unless youre a total nerd for Defensive plays, but largely untouchable.

Unrelatedly Bjorkstrand was on that team as well doing the same at forward.

Cant teach this in close IQ Vilardi has

NOt just because I'm salty about this org but my next jersey is literally a Jets Vilardi.

I've been a huge fan going back to juniors and I'm so stoked to see him being basically the same player in the NHL, he's so unique and kind of a throwback to 'specialists' in that regard.

He is unique...its not speed or slicing and dicing.. its doing crazy things in incredibly small spaces - nothing quite like it.

Steely Dan applies here to the blucicites 'you wouldnt know a diamond if you held in your hand, the things you think are precious i dont understand'.. Bluc is reeling in the years, stowing away the time

So glad the Kings waited so long for him to get healthy so they could use him to "upgrade" the center position with Dubois.

At least PLD outscored him by 1 point in 30 fewer games last year.

The fact that Blake had another season after back-to-back offseasons of trading so much value for what amounts to Fiala and Kuemper should be fireable.

Yeah he's very much the stereotypical stickhandling in a phone booth guy, just has the added benefit of being an absolute bull on the wall. It's like the prime version of Corey Perry.

Who else comes to mind with that skillset (stickhandle in the phonebooth)? I think P Kane can do that.. who else?

Can't find the sequence where he tried this on Binnington the first and then came back to say "nah, u not that good"

Utah names are down to these 3
  • Utah Hockey Club
  • Utah Mammoth
  • Utah Wasatch
Those are all meh. I think we should help them out with some better options..

* Utah Peyotes
* Utah Polygams
* Utah Salties

Please contribute your own... will fwd to the hockey club.

I'm slightly tired of complaining about Vilardi, but I will pretty much never not be devastated over the fact that we lost him. A true wizard in tight. Unmatched hands. High level skill constantly on display.
In a Kings jersey....

Rob Blake is such a f***ing moron it's astounding. Him and Luc remind me of those wojaks who have literal bicycles where their brains are supposed to be

these guys
