Samsonov gets the last laugh on Ullmark, making 38 saves, including a clutch stop to rob Perron from tying the game and puts up a .950 sv%. Vegas was outshot 18-5 in the third period.

After Ottawa won their Stanley Cup against the Leafs they've lost four in a row.
cant blame em every team goes through a stanley cup hangover

They lie.

You can see Whitecloud elevates up into the head, leaving his feet as he does so, after contacting the chest.

The NHL noted that Whitecloud, on the other hand, takes a proper angle and "does not elevate up excessively or unnecessarily to pick the head as he delivers the check."

Also, the NHL added that it considers the force and predatory nature of the hit, any injuries that may occur as a result of the play and the player's disciplinary history when determining the length of a suspension.

The Blue Jackets actually might be the most entertaining team this year

Win 7-6 against Tampa tonight
Beat the Leafs 6-2
Beat the Bruins 5-1
Beat the Capitals 8-4
Beat the Oilers 6-1
Beat the Pens 6-2

But will then:

Lose to the Pens 7-3
Lose to the Habs 5-1
Lose to the Capitals 6-2
Lose to the Jets 6-2

Great hustle by captain Brady. When is he asking for a trade out? End of this season?

Sens just have WAY to much losing ingrained in them. They are turning out to be Buffalo/pre McDavid Oilers. Man where would the oilers be today without McDavid lol.

I suspect Habs are on a very similar path. They seem to see no issue with keeping a coach that has no idea what hes doing and is just letting his young players go out there and f*** around essentially. The constant losing will effect that group. Should have canned MSL this off season and really started to try and win this year. At least get yourself out of the basement.

Only Tampa with the loser point out of all the losing eastern teams last night. Great night. Only black mark was Boston scoring a goal on the PP and winning against the Hockey Club.

Too close to Ottawa and Montreal
Since the Sens glorious 3-0 win against the Leafs they are 0-4 and been out scored 17-8. On every broadcast Jamie McClennan says the are playing someplace between good and great and they are on the right track. Never critical in anyway. The overdrive guys do a half hour anytime Nylander appears lackadaisical on a play like Tkachuk last night crickets from Noodles

I'm not sure either of these situations are necessarily a coaching issue (although Green is a terrible coach). I think it's more that if a rebuild is built on just "ordinary" high draft picks, it's very hard to become a dominant team. Buffalo is really the biggest example of this. Hitting on those high draft picks is not the only way to win, but it makes it a lot more difficult if you don't get dominant players with those picks.

Hustling isn't Brady's strong suit. Fighting the opposing goalie, dissing the fans for booing, now that's where he really shines.

You dont think having DJ smith coaching that sens core in their early days had an effect on how they play on the ice today?

You have a shit coach when these kids are entering the league, they develop extremely bad habits that just become more difficult to correct as time goes on.

Even though Babcock was a POS and not the greatest coach, at least he pushed dudes to improve in other areas of their game and taught them how to play in the NHL.

Who knows whether the impact of a coach can be measured in that way. My theory is more that a guy like McDavid, MacKinnon or Matthews changes the trajectory of a franchise in a way that Dahlin, RNH, Slavkovsky (or pick any similar ordinary high draft pick) cannot. It's very much luck of the draw in terms of timing for a franchise. It's why teams like Buffalo, Ottawa, Anaheim, etc. never seem to take the next step.
